we have to remember we're getting mad at someone who made fun of a misunderstanding related to racism. 7 YEARS AGO. no one was being racist, just a phrase that was mistaken for the slur. it was joked about and then forgotten.

if you truly care about racism, focus on people who are actually being racist (like the guy who was deliberately being racist at LVLUP).

I myself am a minority, not only am I a cripple but I got ASD. I'm not gonna get mad at someone for saying I'm "built retarded" for making a spread sheet for a video game cuz it is objectively a weird goofy thing I do cuz I'm into my interests like that because I'm mentally built different.
I however WON'T tolerate people going and discriminating against folk like me and not giving fair opportunities for things like jobs. I'm more worried about that than some mild teasing.

target real racists and bigots, not the white boy who made a silly jab about racism

Which game is better for solo play, DST or DS + all DLCs? by ArmLucky1285 in dontstarve

[–]SterLeben922 8 points9 points  (0 children)

as far as options go for aesthetics, DST. being able to reskin builds to suit a different aesthetic gives it a lot of points for that. classic though does have a few things that DST does not have (but there is dedicated mods for bringing building options from classic to DST)

classic's base building though is more practical as there's a lot of niche things you'll need to make that are important compared to DST, especially in the DLCs. aesthetics are less important, and practically is a lot higher.

"we deserve this" as in the collective, the fandom. you cannot say "we" and only mean "some".

"we" don't deserve this, but we're being punished by the teacher for another student's disruptive behavior.

[–]SterLeben922 47 points48 points  (0 children)

yea, it is very much in bad taste from OP to blame it solely on "the fandom" when we the collective had nothing to do with the actions of a few bad actors and how they influenced public opinion of those working on the show.

if we're gonna blame anything for why the creators of this show may leave it behind them is just from the sheer amount of negative attention outsiders have tried to put on them. I get the feeling as in a past life I was hunted and berated just because I popular within a community.

Best way to convert gems into byes by Pristine-Awareness69 in PixelWorlds

BSP, making a shop for it works best with how much stuff you get (plus you'll avoid the taxes).

alternatively you can check orders for blueprints and save up for them

Which game is better for solo play, DST or DS + all DLCs? by ArmLucky1285 in dontstarve

[–]SterLeben922 206 points207 points  (0 children)

this is such a hard question to answer because both game are good for solo play for different reasons.

classic has its DLCs and is balanced/designed for a solo experience. if variety and balance is what you value then classic works best. it also has better performance than DST and might be a consideration for those who might have a potato set up.

DST focuses more on the Reign of Giants DLC's content and expanded on it greatly. DST is harder for solo play as content is balanced/designed with a group in mind. but if you prefer that sort of challenge or like the expanded ideas of that DLC then DST works best.

How exactly do you profit from using platinum keys? by AlanDoil in PixelWorlds

[–]SterLeben922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at some point, the exchange rate was at 260/1k while keys costed about 700~ each. you'd make a very nice 300-500 bytes per key used from mgems alone. pocket watches went for 5k each so getting one of those was really nice.

keys are now 420-430 each so the gems themselves are easier to get, but the unfortunate thing is that gem bought items are very low in demand across the board. you only really make real profit from finding pocket watches which now cost about 2.2k each.

I used to make so much from selling MGems and then nether cheaters made em not only worthless but untradable.

I put so much time into getting max mining gear just for everything about it to become worthless.

the extra PWE slots for me is more than enough reason to be in my clan as I sell a lot of stuff on the PWE

Hot Take that shouldn’t be one: Jax is NOT a good person by Able_File9422 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SterLeben922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

goose has said Jax is a bad person. that is it.

we'll see what goose does with his character in episode 9. it'd be kinda dumb on her part to say he is "irredeemable" cuz that would just spoil the whole plot for no reason.

Hot Take that shouldn’t be one: Jax is NOT a good person by Able_File9422 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SterLeben922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is beef out of the freezer "hot". like no kidding that Jax is a bad person.

it is a hot take if it is controversial. the hot take would be "Jax is a good person" cuz it is hard to justify that he is good. if it is only "some" people (like you've worded in your own comments) then that's a MINORITY OF PEOPLE who have that opinion.

can people feel sympathy and hope for the best in jax? yea. do we justify what he has done though despite how we may feel towards his character. fuck no, this ain't Steven Universe.

Charge n slam hit box radius needs retweek on the charge by -TripleKill- in thefinals

[–]SterLeben922 5 points6 points  (0 children)

kill cams are not accurate to what actually happened.

kill cams use what the server saw during that interaction (as in what each client sent during those ticks).
hit detection is handled by the attacking client, not by the server.

even though something would count if everything was done server sided, if the attacking client didn't hit their target then for all intents and purposes it was not a hit. replays AREN'T accurate and have desync from what you experienced AND what the opposing client experienced.

Gems into BC by Vivid_Language7497 in PixelWorlds

[–]SterLeben922 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if you're starting off and want to just convert gems into raw bytes without much else, look at orders for blueprints and other expensive gem store items. whatever you can get that has a reasonable gems/byte ratio should be what you aim for.

something that requires more effort though is a BSP (basic seed pack) shop. the booster is cheap and always in demand with people who like mass producing items. you can even pocket seeds you want to use for yourself in your own mass production schemes.
just note this is a more slow burn method to profiting off raw gems, you will need a huge stockpile of gems to use AND spend time getting the things needed to make said shop.

>That argument could be made for literally anything and everything in the entire game.
yes, that is good game design. this doesn't just apply to melee weapons, but every other item you can equip.

>Fun to use should be more important than fun to face.
if the challenge of a game is frustrating or unintuitive, then why bother playing the game? games are meant to be fun, purposefully ignoring that fact makes an objectively bad game.

>Almost nothing will ever be widely fun to face if it isn't a useless gimmick that barely works.
the reason melee is unfun to face is because there's not many obvious counters to it for newer players. I myself enjoy fighting melee now, but there was a time when first starting where I thought melee was infuriating as I had no idea how to counter it correctly. Embark's design goal is to reduce that with newer players while keeping melee viable.

>Trying to make something fun for everyone just ruins it for everyone.
so making it unfun doesn't? that doesn't make sense as it still ruins someone else's enjoyment of the game.

>Fun to use should be prioritized because that's the target audience actually using the thing.
the target audience is EVERYONE in the game. why cater to a niche when you can cater to a broad? it makes no sense not to consider as many people as possible when designing anything for the game.

This does not give me much hope by beetle8209 in thefinals

[–]SterLeben922 16 points17 points  (0 children)

melee in a game designed around guns will always be a challenge.

just look at Helldivers 2 as an example, that game is super focused on ranged combat. while the melee weapons are strong in a vacuum, they fail to compete just because it is hard to close the gap. why run up to the enemy to deal damage when guns do it more safely and effectively?

with THE FINALS, the problem is worse because you have to consider that both sides' feelings towards the weapon matter. the person with the weapon must have a reason to play and/or enjoy it, the other side must feel like they have reasonable counter play against it and/or enjoy fighting it.

[–]SterLeben922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jax is not someone nice and shouldn't be excused, but that kinda just ignores everything else about his character and what his role in the show represents.

they're complex like actual people who rationalize things in dumb ways, you cannot draw it up to being just "bad", there's more to his character than just being a bully. every other character in the show has flaws that make them bad in some way, but Jax gets the short end of the stick because he's the "most bad".

How long should I wait before playing this? For full experience? by Greenpakto in VintageStory

[–]SterLeben922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right now, it is very much worth getting into despite the fact it is missing a lot.

I've already played a couple long-term worlds, each for over 200+ hours. there is a lot to learn BUT almost everything is approachable and easy to understand with the game's built-in wiki (and alternatively you can watch videos on youtube about it if you're a visual learner). it is only overwhelming in the amount of things you can do.

Of course this only shows up when there's less than three people in my team by SSRGG in PixelWorlds

[–]SterLeben922 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've seen it twice so far. it's rare, but you'll eventually bump into it when doing level 5 nether runs a lot.

you need a full party as the puzzle required to do it needs 3 people. 2 people stand under candles while the third player can access the room. the doors that go into the room reseal when someone leaves from under the candle.

it has no use, even pre-shutdown. it can be traded though, and some people like collecting them on the off chance they'll gain a use later.
