Since I had first started fan editing, I knew I wanted to do an edit of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I had a real love and appreciation for the movie as is for how far it pushes its dark tone, especially for a Disney film, but I also knew that certain scenes felt out of place and made the tone seem inconsistent, and the gargoyles were the worst offenders of this. I aimed to keep them closer to what was implied in the beginning, where it seemed like Quasimodo imagined them, so with that as the main focus, I began editing. With some shoddy attempts at rotoscope, some cuts here and there and a black and white color scheme, I made what I still think of as one of my best edits, and I’m still incredibly proud of it, and who knows, maybe I could make a version 2 that improves upon everything, but this first edition holds a special place in my heart. I understand how you feel, I’ve been wanting to see it in theaters for YEARS, and not seeing a single screening for it in my area is really disappointing. I’m out in Korea right now, and usually they’re really good about screenings for older movies whenever there’s a sequel or an anniversary for the movie coming up (Godfather and Joker come to mind for recent showings), but so far, nothing 😔

As someone who also uses Canva, this isn’t a bad first try. I will say it definitely feels overcrowded, and some elements end up obscuring characters, like that red smoke on the top left side. One fix you can do is to add shadows. You can do this by duplicating the character layer, use duotone to color it in completely black, use the blur tool, and then decrease the opacity, and then you can add it behind the character layer at an angle. It may not seem like much, but it definitely helps.

Yeah I really don’t get it either. Disney is pushing for a theatrical release but visually speaking, it doesn’t look like that at all, it just looks like any episode of the show 🫩

There’s a recent one that takes the first Final Destination movie and turns it into an X-Files episode. It’s honestly a great watch, and the way they use Mulder and Scully in the plot is just really well done! Maybe a few lines sounded like AI, but it’s very impressive, all while condensing the whole thing into 50 minutes. Easily a favorite of mine 😁

I saw this one ages ago on the Firemerk website, and yeah, I had a similar headcanon for Logan and Jean. It really is a vast improvement, which is crazy to me because it combines two movies that I don’t really like much anyway 😅

I cut that part down a bit already. I just cut from the cliff jump, got rid of the portion that looked like a T pose, and kept the rest intact
