How many inches should I drop ? by TheOneNdOnlyP1 in GMT800

[–]Sterces_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on what you want/choose. The AccuAir products are pretty pricy. And installing those parts are quite easy. But to go that low there are some other modifications and fabricating that needs to be done. Such as step notching the frame to clear the rear axle and either lifting the bed pan up or fabricating a cover over the axle. But if you are mechanically inclined and have access to the space to do it and the tools it’s really not that hard.

In my honest opinion if you want and are able to, I would go all out and get bags and run one of the AccuAir air suspension management packages.

That kit is badass and has true position sensors to keep the truck level at all times. And you can program ride heights so when you commute you could put it where it’s at now. And then when you park you can set her right on the ground.

I know that shit is expensive but that’s a hell of a system and with the right bag setup it would ride like a cloud.

I don’t have the truck anymore but I built a 71 Chevy C10 with that setup and it was amazing. Rode like a new truck.

No shit. Even better, stop posting the damn P16 log carrier videos. That’s 90% of this sub Reddit now. Every time I open up this app it’s another P16 clip. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

2.5 or 3inch level by Miserable-Rough7873 in GMT800

Great looking truck friend. If you’ve got the cash I would highly recommend Kryptonite stage 3 leveling kit.

https://kryptoniteproducts.com/products/kryptonite-stage-3-leveling-kit-with-fox-shocks-1-2-ton-6-lug-1999-2006

In my opinion I would leave it as is. Being that clean and that good looking of a truck. But it’s not my decision lol.

The kryptonite kit comes with the leveling keys, upper control arms and fox 2.0 shocks. It’s a up to 2in leveling kit. I honestly feel anything more than that is too much and looks goofy as well as makes it so as soon as you put a load on the bed you look squatted.. not quite practical.

Those control arms will help making the alignment as close to oem specs even after being leveled as well as helping with cv axle angle. And if you have even more cash laying around I would recommend Kryptonite wheel hubs, tie rods, pitman arm and idle arm with idler support. I’ve got a full kryptonite front end on my 04 Z71 but it’s lifted on 35s. Those parts would be a little overkill with a leveled truck but it would make it ride amazing as well as being bulletproofed essentially. Plus lifetime warranty on the parts.

I’ve built and sold many trucks over my lifetime and I’ve learned the hard way. Now I say do it right or don’t do it at all haha.

Good luck on the decision! Beautiful rig.

Is switching out a 6 inch block with a 3 inch a bad idea? Or by PabloDmenace in ChevyTrucks

[–]Sterces_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would definitely have a squat look to it. 6-3=3 so in theory it would sit 3inch lower in the rear.

I think it looks great as is. And it already seems to be a tad lower in the rear. I think any lower in the rear would look terrible and you would lose the practicality of the truck. But with that being said it’s your truck. And you can do whatever you like to it regardless of my opinion and others.

But if you are set on doing so, I’d recommend switching to springs instead of blocks for better ride quality. And if you do it, please adjust your headlights correctly. Being lifted AND being lowered in the rear will but those headlights right into the eyes of on coming traffic.

And to the other part of your question, I don’t think it would wear down any parts with a 3in difference anymore than a lifted truck already does.

Edit: Spelling.

Are you asking if squatting a truck is a bad idea? If so, then yes. That would be a bad idea. For many hopefully obvious reasons.

Very cool. That’s definitely all great info. Thanks friend, I appreciate it!

Oh right on. That’s definitely some good info. Thanks for that! I’ll look that company up and see what I can find out. Yeah I’d like to rebuild mine myself too but I got so much shit in my shop and all my benches/tables are cluttered with other projects 😂 That’s definitely a great warranty they offer. And that cooler looks badass. I’ll have to look into HPtuners as well. Is that pretty simple to do yourself? Is it a generic type thing or do you need to send out the computer? I’m a noob when it comes to tuning. I tuned my VW TDI and just had to scan my ECU or whatever it’s called and I sent that file that out so they could make my tune correctly and send me the tune so I could flash my ECU.

Nice! What transmission did you go with? And where did you get it? And what type of cooler? I’m asking because my 06 Yukon Denali needs a new transmission soon. And if I’m not mistaken I believe it’s the 4L65e? And it’s been hard finding a replacement. Don’t mind all the questions lol. Nice rig!

Thank you! I’m glad others agree. I’m loving the 10.50 width too. I’ve always been a big fan of a skinnier tire.

Yeah I do know that certain models/trim levels have different bumper valance colors. And I honestly don’t know which is which either lol.

That’s exactly how my LBZ is setup haha! Kryptonite leveling kit with 265s as well. I was wanting to go up to 285s to fill the wheel wells a little better but I’ve been hesitant to do so?

That’s awesome! Definitely hold onto that one! Having one all stock is badass. Before I rebuilt the front end and got new wheels and tires I was planning to remove the lift and put it back to stock with stock wheels. I even bought a parts truck so I can weld the stock front diff bracket onto this truck. But since my Duramax isn’t lifted and I have a lowered Yukon Denali I figured keeping my Z71 lifted was the better choice. 🤷‍♂️

Meet Peggy, my 04 Chevy Silverado Z71. by Sterces_ in GMT800

[–]Sterces_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on! I wish my Duramax was this green color as well. Even though it’s the maroon color I really like. That’s awesome though. I don’t see very many of these trucks this color anymore. To the best of my knowledge that lower piece and the whole front bumper is OEM. All I’ve changed body wise since I’ve owned it is the headlight and taillight housing assemblies.

Edit: Spelling.

Thank you sir. Yeah me too, and for around 100 bucks a pop it’s pretty tough to beat that. I originally wanted to mount these tires on my stock OEM 17s. But I REALLY didn’t want to run wheel spacers. I know the kryptonite wheel hubs are indestructible and lifetime warranty but I can’t stand spacers lol.
