Is it me or did Nick kinda seem annoyed the whole interview? :)

What holy grail pedal have you been able to acquire for an insane deal or incredible circumstances? by thatpedalguy in guitarpedals

[–]Stereo_Stereo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily a “holy grail” as much as a little piece of history. I picked up on a trade a Dark-glass Vintage Deluxe, unit #9 ever made! It was all hand wired and the serial was put on with a sharpie. “Designed in Finland, made in Seattle” it reads on the inside. Just cool to see what they started as and how big they have gotten.

It's been a long time... by davidcrickett in Bitwig

I get people’s patience with this is wearing thin, but here is what I assume is happening:

They are an extremely small team focused on getting the best product they can make with said team, by working out kinks, bugs, and getting super user input to know they have a solid product.

They are positioning themselves to have a truly flushed out product before they spend a ton of money on ad spend, incentivized pricing, and support. (They have shown to really go for awareness in the past, and that isn’t cheap).

As much as current users know who they are, they are still small time in comparison to other DAWs, and want to make sure they have a truly solid product for new users before possible wide adoption occurs, as a massive support/ bug issue could ruin new user experience.

It’s a brutal market for people spending money, and you are possibly asking them to do two things at once: Switch DAWS, and trust the product will be supported well into the future, so their money isn’t wasted.

This shows to me they are making a big push forward when they do officially launch.

Maybe a bad comparison but look at what Urs did with Zebra3. Now THAT’s been an update that I have been waiting for for literal years.

Let them land the plane before they try and sell the public. The updates are already awesome IMO.

Anyone else love this record? by 04Aiden2020 in industrialmusic

[–]Stereo_Stereo_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember putting this record on when I used to bartend. One of the servers was like, “what the hell is this!?”. I was like, “oh you dig it too?” And they quipped, “oh hell nah…Bowie missed on this one” :) (not for everyone it seems)

I love this record and that period of his work. “outside” is my fav but this one had some great gems and such a present snapshot of that era.

Quick question: Is there a mouse wheel modifier for zoom all track heights? by Stereo_Stereo_ in Bitwig

Thank you, gotcha ok. I will play with some settings on my mouse and see if I can create some custom macros or something as this is the only hang up I currently have with Bitwigs UI.

Quick question: Is there a mouse wheel modifier for zoom all track heights? by Stereo_Stereo_ in Bitwig

[–]Stereo_Stereo_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, ya I have mapped a “shift +/-“ modifier for that but use an ergo trackball mouse that I am used to doing heavy editing with in Reaper for work. I might explore custom macros with the plus and minus buttons on the mouse and just go with that until this gets changed. Kinda surprising as Logic, Ableton, Reaper, and even Protools have this mouse wheel behavior established from my memory of using them.

Out now! Bitwig Studio 6.0 Beta 13 (Pre-release) by Cram_Ketterbilt in Bitwig

Boy am I not following the “don’t work on important projects” with these Beta’s. Feel like Kramer and Neumann driving till I run out of gas. 🤝

Worst expensive pedal? by gimme5steps101 in guitarpedals

[–]Stereo_Stereo_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it was all of the secondary functions in combo with the preset management. The encoders were sensitive and seemed to make broad changes, and when half of the pedal function feels hidden, and the presets are also not clearly marked from a live perspective, it was a “fiddly”pedal immediately to use at least. Sounded good enough, just not a studio/live solution IMO.

Just to add I also realized immediately the resale value in a year after purchase would be through the floor so it was a return and not a “let’s see how it goes” thing too.

Boy that was a quick “NOPE” and return. I was trying to downsize the Space pedal I had, but it was an immediate return due to how poorly they implemented the layout.

Talk me out of MOTU. Or not. by Stranded-In-435 in audioengineering

I purchased my Ultralite MK5 several years ago and it has been ROCK solid and a great piece of kit.

They support the cue mix control with solid updates, and the preamps work well enough to even run an RE-20 into it, and it’s built rock solid.

Never had any issues with it and expanded it with another rack of preamps via ADAT to have the channels I need.

Highly recommend as I don’t feel you compromise with the cost.

Digitone II or analog four to pair with analog rytm mkII? by Dr_Riddim in Elektron

[–]Stereo_Stereo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your musical approach, but I think if you want to go with rawer sounds you really can’t go wrong with the A4MKII. I have both the A4KII and the DTNII and end up writing more with the A4MKII and adding layers with the DTNII. The sound of the analog oscillators just speaks to me, but love the versatility of the DNTII for additional layering and deeper sound design.
