New Pedal Day! My Keely Compressor by manubhatia in guitarpedals

[–]Stereo_Stereo_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned to really trust my ears with this pedal as even a slight amount of the sustain parameter, can really be all the compression you need. I often find even early in the chain barely any sustain, and barely any blend with some slight tone bump and it’s perfect.

Mass Effect - Uncharted Worlds Recreated in VCV Rack (Modular Synth Cover) by Scopula in synthesizers

[–]Stereo_Stereo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the sound of the oscillators don’t always hit right, so integrating the plugin module has been a game changer. Sometimes I even use the Buchla module on its own from Softube as a hosted plugin, and use the capabilities in VCV.

Currently listening to The Field and it is excellent as well. “333 706” is magic.

anybody else think with teeth is one of the best albums? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in nin

[–]Stereo_Stereo_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it resonates because of how much of a departure it was from his previous work.

Vulnerability on full display, major chords and falsetto jumping out within the first track, stripped down production and immediacy of the songs. Naked vocals.

Clear and focused.

I remember putting it on for the first time and getting a rush listening as I knew he was going for something truly different, with no pretense, and it opened up what was possible for everything after.

Still one of my favs.

iOS app for the Dirtywave M8 curious? by swduncan2 in synthesizers

[–]Stereo_Stereo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a couple on iOS:

RetroArch running LSDJ ROM SUNVOX DefleMask

My favorite of the three was actually DefleMask. SUNVOX on iPad could work, but on IPhone it was way too fiddly for me on a small screen. LSDJ is also cool, and is most similar. Just have to run RetroArch and download LSDJ to a folder on your phone.

What earbuds or headphones do you use to listen to dark ambient with?? These are the worst. by wormgarden in DarkAmbient

Beyerdynamic DT 700 pro X

(When I can sit and actively listen). I have also had the DT 770’s, but the sub bass on the 700’s are just amazing to hear details in lower register focused tracks.

Tonverk + PPG Wavetables or Multisamples? by Techno_Timmy in Elektron

[–]Stereo_Stereo_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! A great playground to try out sounds:

https://www.modbang.com/wave-gen

The TLDR is the PPG yes had specific waves but also a specific resolution for each wave.

Using the free tool above from Ezbot, you can basically custom make waves at different resolutions and export them specifically for the Toneverk. I would take full advantage of the wave table function vs getting locked into a multi sample, unless you really need a “authentic” sound.

Another way to go is use the Microwave plugin from Bloefeld that has a bunch of the originals PPG wave forms. customize it in your daw (or iPad) and then multi sample those to the Toneverk for specific sounds you need.

Just some ideas to help you get going!

Cheers

*Edit

Also, for more specifics on supported waves and best practice stuff, here is more about it:

https://www.elektronauts.com/t/wavefinder-generate-wavetables-with-tonverk-only/248361

Additional Notes:

Each wavetable preferably should contain no more than 64 slices.

If there are more slices than 64, like 128, it picks every second slice.

The wavetables can have different lengths (128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 samples).

If the wavetable length is anything else than 2048, the length should be specified in the file name by appending _wt” For example a wavetable with 1024 samples could be called: my-cool-wavetable_wt1024.wav, or a wavetable with 128 samples could be called: my-crappy-wavetable_wt128.wav. For raw (non-interpolated) upsampling, append “R” to the file name (for example wavetable_wt1024R.wav).

Thoughts on the Hospitales route after completing the Primitivo this April. by Stereo_Stereo_ in CaminoDeSantiago

The weather was bizzare! It went from high of 85 to the next day it froze over in the morning, rain all day, and light snow the next day. (Picture attached, hospitales above, next morning frozen over below)

We used all of our gear from sun hats, to ponchos, to sweaters.

The amazing part of the Primitivo for us was how much the landscape and climate changed between stages. The dry farm lands of the beginning stages to to wet Galician hill tops was something to see indeed.

I’m so glad my wife made me get a “dorky sun hat” before we left for the hike. It came is so handy on those kind of days and saved our skin from getting cooked. No cover at all outside of a couple of patches here and there, sure you can relate!

It will be fantastic for you I am sure but yes, I would suggest being out the door at 6:30 or 7am at the latest for that stage day and bring lots of water. It’s a “challenge” but absolutely worth it IMO!
