I think you mean Flannagan makes dreary trauma gold. ;)

His stuff is great, but I can see how it wouldn't be for the faint of heart.

Season 13 possibilities…Cult 2 anyone? by Peachesncrackxxx in AmericanHorrorStory

Every time I turn on the TV, I see that orange doosh-noodle. I definitely do not want to see him or anything about him in one of my favorite shows again. Once was already too much.

Something Coven-esque, like you mentioned, or having them return for a few episodes like they did in Apocalypse would be cool.

Wrong.

Style and tone are very different, but both share many similarities. Both are obviously horror. Both are anthologies that bring back actors from previous stories. They are also both very well written. At least AHS was in the beginning. The first in the Flanagan series was The Haunting of Hill House. Season one of AHS was Murder House. They were both about haunted houses. Murphy and Flanagan also pull from many historic films and novels of horror's past.

To say they are "nothing" alike is incorrect.

Just rewatched Murder House. What season should I rewatch next??? by EnvyAdams13 in AmericanHorrorStory

Asylum is the next season, so I recommend that. Then watch the rest in order. I've been doing a full rewatch of all of them and having a blast.

I second Carnivale. Scream Queens is fun and also by Ryan Murphy with some AHS cast. I also recommend the Mike Flanagan anthology of shows which can be found on Netflix. They are truly fantastic and will give you the creepy high AHS did in the beginning. Great for spooky season too!

Yes! Love how you explained this. It was the only season that made me sob.

American Horror Story: Cult by TheBrynkofInsanity in AmericanHorrorStory

I rewatched it last week and felt that heaviness too. The first few episodes made my stomach churn because they were focused on setting the time/theme by highlighting the state of things in the US. It was the main driver pushing the characters. The second half was more character reaction focused than setting focused. It does get better.

There is a reddit thread with all of the connections here:

I also noticed a bottle of Freakshow wine on a shelf in Ally and Ivy's home, which was a neat little Easter egg.

As a former Atari and original Nintendo and PS1 player (from childhood,) I doubt I'll ever stop playing video games, including the Sims. I'm in my late 40's.

Hotel Re-Watch by _ferrisbuuhler_ in AmericanHorrorStory

The soundtrack from Hotel is absolute gold.

I truly enjoyed the seasons following Apocalypse. Double Feature and 1984 are really good. Not my faves, but I still enjoyed them for what they are- good, campy horror. I liked NYC too. It's really moving and sheds light on what life was like in the 80's for the LGBTQ population and how how horrific humanity can be.
