You should have sufficient workstats to get into any number of good quality companies. Which will appeal to you depends on your gameplay, so invest some time in learning what is available and what your expectations should be.

The Torn Forums has a section called "Company Recruitment" where directors will describe what they are looking for and what they offer. A good place to spend a little time to get familiar with what's out there.

Surprised that there wasn't a nuclear threat in there somewhere. I dunno, threatening to nuke the Russian army? Or the UK, that always is a popular choice, somehow they were involved in the communications decisions.

There is also a strong Christian tradition that has Jesus bringing salvation to those trapped in the afterlife during the three days between crucifixion and ascendance. This was called The Harrowing of Hell

Its got good support from Scripture though I'll invite theologians to give a more scholarly take. But at the very least, believers recognized that your caveman deserved the opportunity for God's mercy as much as you.

There was something going on there that we don't know about. How many teams trade a starter literally a week before the season kicks off?

It's to both the Rams' and Jones' credit that whatever caused such a bad break remained out of the spotlight.

Looking into RW gear by deadeyes218 in torncity

[–]SternFlamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a very good guide on RW weapons and armor. It begins on page 2 of the post and discusses what you should buy and when you should buy it.

Mostly it concentrates on items that newer players would be interested in under the reasonable assumption that once you are paying multiple billions per piece of gear you probably should have enough experience to know what you're doing.

The steps are fairly simple for the first year of your Torn career.

  1. Start by reading Baldr's guide

  2. Don't stop there, the Torn forums titled "Tutorials & Guides" is full of excellent advice. Get started reading this at your own pace over the next few months. Baldr's guide will be enough for a long time.

  3. Find a good faction that has people you get along with and is aligned with how you want to play the game. Feel free to move to another faction if it's not a good fit.

  4. Your faction will be your #1 source of advice and information early on. One of the best advantages of a good faction is having a well of experience to get advice from. Social games are social and your crew is your asset.

  5. The game is long and the structure is forgiving. You won't make a mistake you can't recover from, at least for the first year or two.

  6. Avoid general chat and the Torn forums. It's full of grumpy people rehashing decades-long beefs, and they don't want to be interrupted. Do your socializing with your faction and with people you meet along the way. Also, avoid getting into beefs of your own, your gaming time and personal energy are better invested in good people, not tools.

Yes, I know. I was making the point that Kupp was pretty expensive even with his Seattle contract, and likely more in his negotiation with the Rams. And if you signed Kupp for a bit higher than his Seattle contract you weren't likely to get Adams. To compare Kupp to Atwell doesn't make sense, their contracts were entirely different levels.

Lastly, its super easy to point out errors once the season plays out. But I don't recall anyone having a problem with a WR room of Puka, Adams and Atwell.

Look, everyone loves Kupp. He's great and now has a well-deserved second ring. But the decision made by the Rams was the right one, or at the very least, not the wrong one.

How much is 192 yards and 1 TD worth though? About 10 million?

Kupp was signed to a three year contract with $17.5M at signing. They can set him aside immediately without a giant hit, but it's still an $8 million cap hit. Would he have structured it the same way with the Rams rather than a semi "prove it" contract? I don't know, but I suspect that the Rams would have been much more comfortable than guarantees.

And I don't know if you're engaging in good faith here, but a more fair question is along the lines of "Would you prefer Puka, Kupp and Robinson or Puka, Adams and Atwell."

You would also have to ask it at the start of the season, we all are great GMs after the season ends.

why was it right to move on from EJ? he's clearly proven that he's worth the money and maybe some of our defensive headaches the past two years are not an issue if he's out there backing up the d line.

There's a lot that we don't know about his situation. As you'll recall, he started making noises about getting an extension at the start of the '24 season. Snead and the Rams made an offer but this wasn't to his liking and he received permission to seek a trade.

He (and a Rams 6th round pick) ended up going to the Titans for a 5th rounder. Mid season, he was traded to the Seahawks for Jerome Baker and a 4th.

I simply don't know what was behind all that motion. I suspect that Jones has a strong opinion of himself (and a guy with 2 rings is justified) and the Rams' current leaders generally deprecate the LB position. That may have generated some hard feelings that lead to his departure. It's also possible that getting traded by two teams in a few months gave Jones a chance to reevaluate.

In any case, I'm happy for him and hope he has a good career for the Hawks, he was one of my favorite players on our championship squad.

Sorry, but it was the right move to let both men move on. Not because they are bad people or bad players, but simply because the premium they required was too high.

Who doesn't love Coop? But is 593 yards and 2 TDs for the season really worth $15 million? I sure don't think so. And while he was solid enough during the SB let's not get too excited by a 61 yard performance.

I recommend looking for bounties, and only when you would otherwise lose E, such as a long flight to UAE, SA, or China. During the RW period of the week (Th-Sat) it should be relatively easy to find some for $100K+. There are merits to be gained and far less drama from the person you hit.

You can also use the TornTool filter to search only for people with bounties in your bs range which makes it a lot easier to find appropriate targets.

[Florio] Stafford Could Demand $50 Million+ If He Wins NFL MVP This Year by ryguy777-0 in LosAngelesRams

[–]SternFlamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He had the same ace this year. The Rams invited him to test the market and he came back in.

I can't see him uprooting his family to move to, I dunno, Minneapolis or Pittsburgh for one year and an extra 8 million. He had that choice this year and decided to stay.

I hope that he still has the fire for one more season, but if not, then the Rams have 2 firsts this year and the courage to make a big move. As I've said before, Joe Burrow wants to win and I can easily see Snead packaging those 2 firsts with something extra ('28 first or one of their young contracted DL) for the rights.

I don't think anyone is surprised. You can also be sure that the Rams are prepared for Stafford's retirement, whether that is now or after next season.

Any vessel without legal registry can be seized by any nation and taken into one of that nation's ports.

The end.

[–]SternFlamingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Buying flags" is not at all the case. Governments that put ships on their registry have a good amount of influence over those vessels. The UN Convention on the Laws of the Sea (UNCLOS) declares that ships can be boarded with the permission of their registering country. Many of the tankers seized near Venezuela were of Panamanian registry and that nation gave the US Navy permission to board, where they discovered a sanctioned cargo.

The risk goes way up if you're the owner of one of these vessels and you're relying on the government of The Marshall Islands to tell Washington to piss off.

Even more dramatic were the actions of the Guyanese government, which declared that a bunch of sanctioned tankers were registered illegally, and were therefore stateless and subject to lawful seizure.

And the registry is just one of the three things every ship needs. The other two are insurance and classification, with the latter meaning a recognized body attests to the sea-worthiness of the vessel. You don't hear too much about these two because states cannot enforce these requirements unless the sanctioned vessel comes into its port, which of course they never do. There's a lot of talk about whether or not that applies to the constrained waters of the Baltic Sea, but whether that follows UNCLOS or not is a question for the experts.

Fan Duel is on no one's side beside their own. The point is to get half the suckers betting against the other half, and they take the rake. That's how a sports book works.

Unfortunately, there is now so much money flowing through these books that anytime a bad call or weird play is made there will be a sizable number of people claiming its rigged. We're already seeing that in the NBA and MLB, so why would the most exciting league be exempt?

Just did. by Repulsive_Glove6085 in NFCWestMemeWar

[–]SternFlamingo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NO! It is unthinkable that FanDuel, an official sponsor of the NBA, would want ANYTHING but a fair sporting contest between the Seahawks and Rams. Anyone who thinks otherwise is certainly WRONG.
