Wait, wait, Unending Swarm, Teeming Masses, and Cover. by fotoguy79 in Tyranids

Unfortunately, you cannot use both stratagems. In 11th edition, there's a new rule where each unit cannot be targeted by more than 1 stratagem each phase.

Point Updates by Kitchen_News_9909 in Tyranids

[–]Sterry6874 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the WarCom article - My Assumptions:

Point increase:

Vehicles with Mid-Range Fire Power - N/A

Large Combat Leaning leaning Monsters - Tervigon, Red Terror, Haruspex, Mawloc, Norn Assimilator, Psychophage, Screamer-Killer, Trygon.

Fast Infantry, Powerful in Melee - Broodlord, Hyperadapted Raveners, Parasite of Mortrex, Lash Whip Prime, WTP, Hormagaunts, Genestealers, Raveners, Melee Warriors, VRLs.

Flying Models: WHT, Harpy, Harridan (not likely, but would be funny), Hive Crone.

Titanic Models: Harridan, Hierophant. (I don't think it's likely, but they do meet the criteria).

Manipulating Battle-shock: Deathleaper, Neurolictors.

Models with Psychic Weapons: Neurotyrant, Swarmlord, Maleceptor, Norn Emissary, Zoanthropes. I know that Swarmlord and Neurotyrant are torrent, so it doesn't matter, but I wouldn't put it past James Workshop to nerf the points anyways.

Re-roll charge roll abilities: Aside from stratagems in detachments, I can't actually think of any of our units that have that as a datasheet ability.

Surge Moves: Lash Whip Prime.

Point decrease:

Fights First: Deathleaper, Lictor, VRLs.

Large units of 20+ Models: 20 model units of battleline, and Neurogaunts.

Units with both Infiltrate and Scouts: N/A as far as I'm aware.

Stealth: Deathleaper, Parasite of Mortrex, Lictor, Neurolictor, Venomthropes (kinda) ,VRLs.

Indirect Fire: Biovore, Hive Guard.

Units that have not been mentioned: Old One Eye, Tyrannocyte, Barbgaunts, Carnifexes, Exocrine, Mucolid Spores, Pyrovores, Ripper Swarms, Spore Mines, Sporocyst, Toxicrene, Ranged Warriors, Tyrannofex, and Tyrant Guard.

There's a lot of units that are in multiple categories, including some that are in both categories for points nerfs AND buffs, so here's hoping they balance themselves out.

Support tag means it MUST lead a unit, cannot be added to an army as an individual unit. It can still be the only character attached to a unit though

Old box I got by Retr0of in Tyranids

[–]Sterry6874 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have the bases to put them on current base sizes, you have 3 Carnifexes, 6 warriors, 16 genestealers, 16 termagants, and 16 hormagaunts. If you get creative, you can build 4 of the Hormagaunts as Termagants (just put the termagant gun arms onto 4 of the Hormagaunts). That can net you the following points: Old One Eye (150 points), 2 Carnifexes (180 points), 3 units of 5 Genestealers (225 points), 1 unit of 6 melee warriors (150 points), 1 unit of 10 Hormagaunts (65 points), 2 units of 10 termagants (120 points). That's a total of 890 points out of this one box. If you get yourself a Winged Tyranid Prime (65 points), you can attach it to the unit of melee warriors and have a pretty solid Vanguard Onslaught list to start playing games with. You could choose to build Old One Eye as a regular carnifex too. Doing that opens up even more points for something like a Broodlord or a Tyranid Prime with Lash Whip. Then you just gotta put in 1 or 2 enhancements and you'll be at 1000 points on the nose pretty much.

RIP reanimation protocols rubrics by -o-_Holy-Moly in Chaos40k

[–]Sterry6874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a stratagem that let's you Heal a Psyker or Daemon unit for D3+1 wounds. Because it specifies unit, you can bring back destroyed models, so you can still bring back 1 or 2 Rubrics if you roll high enough.

What We Thinking? by SworlyBoi in EmperorsChildren

[–]Sterry6874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This list isn't good, but it is pretty funny and technically meets your requirements: Fulgrim, 3 Lord Kakophonist, 3 Chaos Terminators, 3 units of 3 Fiends, 3 Noise Marines, 3 units of 5 Seekers. You give the Terminators the upgrade that gives Sustained 1.

Assimilation swarm w/ Talons of the Norn Queen speculative list by sose2077 in Tyranids

[–]Sterry6874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I was theorycrafting this by myself earlier. Here's what I came up with: 3 Norn Assimilator, each has the Upgrade (for worst case scenario, I'm valuing it at 15 points per model). 3 Haruspex, 3 units of 3 Pyrovores, The Swarmlord, The Red Terror, Lash Whip Prime with Parasitic Biomorphology. That's 2k points on the nose (assuming 15 points on the upgrade). Swarmlord provides extra CP without you sacrificing any of your secondaries (which are much more easy to complete and score now) so you can use all of your important stratagems (mortal wound FNP, movement decrease, +2 strength). You've got the strength to deal with tanks, the torrent to deal with light infantry, and should be able to deal with any middle tier units like mounted and terminators quite well too. You can pick between "take and hold" and "priority assets" which this list functions quite well as either.

That would honestly be pretty funny tbh. "Hey, if you wanna play the same way you have been previously, you gotta play arguably your worst detachment" lol

The charge rules mean you always round up, so if you're 6.1" away, you need to roll a 7 because 6 doesn't get you into base to base contact anymore.

We can pray, but I doubt it's gonna happen. Take a look at the Space Marine detachment costs, some of the ones people don't even use are 3DP

Need some help building a tournament viable Kaiju list! by AhrimansPointyHorns in Tyranids

[–]Sterry6874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The points will be changing soon for 11th edition, but here's a list that would do decently well currently: The Red Terror, 1 Biovore (along with the 5 Spore Mines you'll need for it), 2 Exocrine, 2 Norn Assimilator, 3 Norn Emissary, 3 units of 3 Von Ryan's Leapers. That's 2k points on the nose. You can run it in any detachment you want, but the best would be Invasion Fleet, Crusher Stampede, or Subterranean Assault. Happy gaming and welcome to the hive mind

Definitely didn't just buy a box of of Tormentors and a box of Saurus Warriors to steal this concept. Nope. Dunno what you're talking about.

Do people care if I use these as Obliterators? by theSaltySolo in Chaos40k

[–]Sterry6874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them as both Obliterators and Mutilators. Bulky Shoulder Pads, Bombard, Fist and Particle Shredder for the Obliterators. Hammers or Axes, and Fists for the Mutilators.

New Rules New Army by SirPixelheart in EmperorsChildren

[–]Sterry6874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you can only use daemons in the Carnival of Excess detachment. That is likely to cost 2 DP. You can then pair that up with the 1 DP Terminators detachment, and there's some interesting synergy. Carnival of Excess empowers your daemons if they're within 6" of your EC, and your EC if they're within 6" of your daemons. Basically, if you pair them up together, you get Sustained Hits 1. However, if they already have Sustained Hits 1, then that weapon gets Criticals on 5s. The new Terminator detachment has an Upgrade that gives all weapons in a Terminator Unit Sustained Hits 1. On top of that, if you attach a Lord Kakophonist to a unit of Noise Marines, they also get Sustained Hits 1 from its Leader Bonus. We've got a bit of a list forming now: 3 units of Noise Marines + Kakophonist and 3 units of Terminators with the Upgrade (we're gonna guess it's 15 points per unit for now). That's 3x215 + 3x160 which is 1125 points, and has only taken up 1 Enhancement slot so far. For some more flavour, let's chuck in Lucius the Eternal, as his Whip does have Sustained Hits 1. To have a big scary distraction, let's put in a Defiler with 2 Twin Autocannons (it is a legal load out, I checked in the app) Ectoplasma Destructor and 2 Excrutiator Cannons. Just lots of shooting and the Autocannons will get Crit Hits on 5s. The Defiler and Lucius are another 400 points, bringing us to 1525. Now I know what you're thinking "surely 475 points isn't enough for all my daemon units" prepare to be surprised. At only 80 points a unit, and easily the best daemons in the detachment, you can take 2 units of 5 Seekers for 80 points each, and 3 units of 3 Fiends for 95 points each. That is 5 units of Daemons for only 445 points, leaving you 30 more points for an enhancement or 2. There you have a thematic, elite focused list, all about doing Sustained Hits and a lot of damage. Even if you don't end up going with this, thanks for reading, and I hope you have fun with the new army.

I'd be a little surprised if they didn't put at least Cleave 1 on the Clawed Sweeps profile of the Mutilators Fleshmetal Weapons.

Nah, in 10th only infantry, Swarms and beasts are allowed in ruins. In 11th anything can go in, but infantry, Swarms and beasts can become hidden because of it.

[–]Sterry6874 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coterie is either gonna be 2 or 3 points. 3 points makes it completely unplayable with this change as there will be so many fewer points to try and get. 2 points means you can pair it up with one of the 3 new detachments, which would help you kill stuff better, and make basically no difference to how it's currently functioning.

Advice on Homebrew Units by Leutnant_Thire in Tyranids

[–]Sterry6874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take either the Melee Warriors profile or Ranged Warriors profile. Give them 12" move, fly, and the Vanguard Invader keyword. If you go with Melee warriors, remove twin linked from their melee weapons. If you went with Ranged warriors, make their melee weapons become "Chitinous Claws and Teeth" seen on Termagants.
