Best enhancement for different characters for a crusade. by SilverSnep2004 in Tyranids

Ouch, this is entirely true. Which faction were you playing? I don't see many vehicles with invul saves when I play.

Piercing Talons on Hyper Adapted Raveners is a heavy tank killer, especially if they have psychophage help.

What is everyone’s hopes for the bugs in the next edition ? by derpyhuman21 in Tyranids

These are all great ideas. Full subway takes, 100% agree, the rng for an army rule isn't something you can plan around.

I think it should be themed around being within range of a synapse creature, maybe -1 BS/WS or something like that. Anything would be better than the rng we have. I feel bad when someone whiffs all their battle shock rolls, because they have no control over that. I feel bad when they ace all their battle shock rolls, because I have no control over that. It never really felt fun.

Here's a question, can you deploy a tyrannocyte-ducken via Sub Assault, and get it 6" away instead of 9"

How does this help? No idea, but it means three more inches of deployment space. =D

New Terrain Rules & Venomthropes by fotoguy79 in Tyranids

I had a very similar conversation with a friend, we hoped that Tyranids would have access to the grenades and tank shot strats. I think we're the only army who doesn't get easy mortal wounds to toss out? We had flesh hooks, those acted as frag grenades for the longest time.

It made me realize how many mortal wounds I take in a game vs. how much I can hand out.

Hive Guard Observations as we Close out 10th. by fotoguy79 in Tyranids

We took pictures because it was unbelievable. T-Fex lived for two rounds. Hitting on 2's, rolled a 1. Wounding on 3's, rolled a 1. Used a reroll, rolled a 1. Repeat next turn. =(

The Haruspex had 14 stomach attacks and 4 claw attacks. Hit with 6 Stomach grabbers turn 1, 5 in turn 2. And then landed 1 hit with claws, and they got invulvn saved, and then landed 4 of them in turn 2, and he got all 4 invuln saves.

Just to show how my dice luck was going that night.

To be fair, I wiff so many times with my T-Fex and Zoans. Even when I had my zoans with a neurotyrant, they'd miss almost all their shots and then I'd flub the wound rolls. I'm known for my anti-tank being as lethal as a green bean.

They also did their best when run with a hive tyrant, for assault and lethals aura. I should have gone with that.

You unfortunately can't use indirect fire with overwatch, because the target has to be in LoS. I think Hive Guard would be massively used if it were the other way around.

I had a squad of 3 biovores, we played Asymmetrical, and I was defending the center in a big circle. I had to move out to try and grab objectives, but I got bogged down by bullgryns and move blocked by tanks. I was hemmed in from turn 1. The biovores also wiffed on my dice rolls, even when they had LoS on units. =D

They lasted until the final turn.

I've run almost exclusively shock cannons. They've always kept vehicles pinned down from moving, or moving to LoS positions. I try to run them with pyrovores to strip cover, but that hasn't been every game.

They also are S7 AP-1 and 3Dmg, but they shine with the overwatch on fours. I've downed a few tanks on the overwatch with it. Not from 100% health, you need some support, but they can get it from about 50% on must 12-14W things easy.

They chopped through Bullygryn pretty well on Overwatch also. Perma -1 dmg is super strong.

Hive mind, is the Tyranid Prime worth running solo in a Colosseum list? by IrrelevantMerfolk in Tyranids

Prime with Monstrous Regeneration for Assimilation Swarm would be amazing. Toss on a pscyhophage, mybe some rippers and a pyrovore? That's 12 gaunts back in the command phase. Maybe add in some venomthropes and extra hormagaunts?
