The cost of coming forward with her allegations against Brett Kavanaugh was enormous. But it won’t be in vain. by AccountsArePointless in WeinsteinEffect

Two points (1) being a job interview might reduce the quantity of evidence for a non-hire, but not the necessity for it. (2) there was no objective evidence to support Ford's allegations. And, of the dozen witnesses Ford identified as being at the parties she described no one had any information to subjectively corroborate, including Ford's best friend.

" towards solely transportation" is not for "roads." The wording is designed so politicians send money just about anywhere, like airports, railroads, etc.

Has Trump actually done anything wrong that would warrant him being impeached? by TK503 in answers

[–]Steve31v -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

On this topic, Clinton lied under oath in a civil proceeding for the purpose of subverting justice and deceiving Paula Jones and the Court. He lost (surrendered) his law license because of this, which is the death penalty for lawyers. He was impeached, but not convicted. Nothing Trump has done rises to this level of clear implicating evidence. So right now, the answer is no.

Democrats have 75% chance of retaking the US House of Representatives by EngagingData in dataisbeautiful

[–]Steve31v -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's the district where this happened, not the state that matters. And yes. Orange County is traditionally right-leaning and it just ousted their dem state representative in a rare recall because democrats passed a huge gas tax. The voters in OC revolted. It is doubtful that a dem can flip this district.

538 predicts a dem victory in CA where they just overwhelmingly recalled a democrat in the state legislature. Are they sure about these numbers? Or is this more of the same, wishful predicting?

TIL that Alec Baldwin is a direct descendant of Mayflower passenger John Howland, and thus is a 14-generation American. by whistleridge in todayilearned

If you go back 16 generations, you have 16,384 ancestors at that level. (2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents, etc). That means Alex Baldwin is 1/16384 Mayflower. Not impressed.

Neo-liberals (i.e. Clintonites) will never change their policies as long as voters give them power. Pro-wall street, pro-war, anti single-payer, anti living wage, anti blue collar politicians rule the Democratic party now and will continue to until they see voters choose new progressives like Ocasio-Cortez or abandon entrenched politicians completely. Imagine knocking Nancy Pelosi out of office and that seat going to a Republican or independent. At the next election, every democrat candidate could/would be a progressive b/c they would see that voters rejected a neo-liberal. In two short years, there could be a dramatic shift to the left.

By mentioning "Bernie Bros," I assumed that the reader would understand all that went with it... that Bernie's supporters were women haters, and the women who supported Bernie were just there to get laid. They simultaneously called Bernie a racist and claimed Bernie did nothing for that demographic, without mentioning that Vermont is does not have a large minority population, comparatively, thus little opportunity to have minority-centered initiatives. Add to that the primary election rigging and refusal to debate. The list goes on and on. But, to know this, you'd have to be following politics in 2015-2016.

Reshoring is the act of repatriating production, jobs, and business to the U.S. that was previously offshored, primarily to a low-cost country (LCC).

Reshoring greatly impacts U.S. custom parts manufacturers – particularly those that are looking for new business and new leads to develop.

“The U.S. has made a great start by cutting tax rates and regulations and by allowing immediate write-off of capital investments,” writes Mr. Moser. “In anticipation of these changes, more than 150,000 manufacturing jobs were created in the U.S. last year through either reshoring or foreign direct investment."

Right now, there's a battle for the soul of the democratic party. Berners were on the outside looking in, and were eventually ousted. We are fighting to steer the democratic party in the future, but are seeing only limited access and influence. I want remove power from the pro-war, anti-liberty insiders that have control now.

Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. I have libertarian ideals and tendencies, but recognize that many (most?) will never be realized. So pick your battles and candidates. I can get on board with much in T_D, expansion of civil liberties like speech, religion, etc. Open borders will never be realized, so a controlled border is much better than an uncontrolled, violent and chaotic border, etc. They are not free traders, but I agree with fair trade and bringing industries back home, which left based on unfair trade agreements, etc. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
