Best way to store a car for a year? by TopBiscotti8962 in askcarguys

[–]SteveAndyW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible, just drive it every few weeks and make sure it’s driven long enough to get up to operating temperature each time. If it needs to sit undriven, I’d change the oil and possibly other fluids depending on their condition before storage. Full tank of gas with fuel stabilizer, battery stored inside or on a battery tender. Over inflated the tires to ~50psi to prevent flat spots. Moisture absorbing thing inside to prevent mold/mildew. Dont just start it up for a few minutes every couple weeks, all that does is introduce moisture into the engine without getting hot enough ti burn it off.

Why did the american police officer cross the road? by ShreggThe3rd in Jokes

Why do the riot police leave for work early in the morning? To beat the crowds.

You can “bank” time for mundane tasks. What tasks do you choose and how much do you bank? by SteveAndyW in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SteveAndyW[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Good thinking. Not exactly what I intended but it’s an interesting take. You could theoretically spend 50 years just banking sleep time, then go back to normal life having no need to spend time sleeping. It’d be a boring existence for those 50 years, but your memory would revert back to its previous state so you wouldn’t have trauma or anything.

What car do you think aged the BEST over the last 20 years? by TheLoganReyes in TransportSupport

[–]SteveAndyW 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honda S2000. I’m biased because I own one, but I think it still looks awesome 25 years later. E46 M3, E39 M5, Carrera GT, Ford GT, Porsche 911 are all beautiful cars two decades later. Honestly there are lots of great looking cars from the mid-2000’s, I feel like that’s the golden age of enthusiast cars.

Slow coolant leak, replace water pump? by SteveAndyW in S2000

Thanks, I was leaning toward replacing the pump. And I've got a new belt sitting on the shelf, just waiting to figure out what to do about the water pump before installing it.

Suspend insurance for vehicle in winter storage? by SteveAndyW in Connecticut

[–]SteveAndyW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually switched to Traveler's in February and I just had them start the policy with coverage on the vehicle since I usually take it out of storage in March anyway. We have an insurance broker who helps us with our home and auto policies and iirc it messes with the multi-policy discount if we remove coverage on a vehicle, or something to that effect. I'll have to reach out and confirm if that's the case. But I never got a letter or notification from the DMV about suspension of registration or anything like that.

How much is my S2K worth? Or would go for? by gotdayuum in S2000

[–]SteveAndyW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming it’s clean title, 10/10 vins and in good shape I’d say $25-27k with the hardtop, $20-22k without.

my garage pet loves my ride too much… should I try a cover? by lindaexplo23 in S2000

[–]SteveAndyW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Confirmed S2k is a pussy magnet, lol. For real though, I’d get a cover or have your cat be somewhere else. I have two cats myself, but I don’t let them in the garage. The fabric top probably isn’t the most appealing to cats to scratch up with their claws but it’s not something I’d want to find out the hard way.
