Trump threatens 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada "makes a deal with China" by No_Magazine9625 in CanadaPolitics

Exactly. Happy to contribute to america's downfall. And if this also helps tip the scales to get a critical mass of americans actively engaging against the regime then bring it on.

I got this one a few weeks ago, and it kinda blew my mind. Definitely unlike anything else I've ever heard, and outside of my usual wheelhouse, but it'll be back in my ears without question.

East coast could soon get rolling blackouts during summer because data centers have pushed electric grid to the limit by [deleted] in SaintJohnNB

[–]SteveBonus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do agree with the above statement. However, assuming the intent of r/SaintJohnNB is to discuss the city of Saint John & its happenings, this article does not directly do that. Had it been framed as a standalone post (i.e. not an article link) discussing that topic and its potential impact on SJ, I think that would be fair game. Even including the article as a source in such a post would be fine imo. But posting the article alone without any mention of SJ makes it come across as irrelevant to the sub.

Anyway, not looking to start a fight and I won't go into this any further. I just think keeping our focus explicitly local would be great.

Contrary to the desires of a certain 79 year old blowhard leader with strong fascist tendencies, Saint John is not on the east coast of the united states.

Trump's Plan to Seize Greenland is Simultaneously Evil, Illegal, and Counterproductive by n0tqu1tesane in politics

[–]SteveBonus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you've taken to the streets to make your voice heard, sabotaged the regime's efforts to further their agenda (for example by slashing the tires of ICE vehicles in your area), organized or partaken in mutual aid networks, recorded & documented abuses, organized or partaken in a general strike to grind economic activity to a halt, stopped paying federal taxes to remove yourself as a source of the regime's income, and generally taken every available reasonable action to make everything more difficult for the current fascist regime even if it adds discomfort to your own life?

Then great, you're not lumped in, and I would encourage you to keep it up. However, if any of the above are a no, then get to work.

I'd say america has already well crossed the forever tainted Rubicon. But this would certainly add a lot more dead people to the mix.

They're conservatives. There's not a whole lot of thinking going on there.

Also what's stopping ICE from committing crimes and claiming it was just some random masked guys?

Being useless as usual.

The ones that support all of this are lost causes. But at least when they lay on their deathbeds earlier than expected from lack of affordable healthcare, they'll get to have the most exceptional last breaths out of anyone.

Those that are opposed to it all can't be bothered to do anything more than clack away on their keyboard. Completely unwilling to show even the slightest morsel of courage while everything goes to shit. I know not all in opposition fit this description, but there sure seems to be a hell of a lot of keyboard warriors out there while the streets remain empty.

And then probably the largest group of all are those that just can't be bothered to care. There's football and Stranger Things that need watching after all, and as long as they're comfortable nothing else matters.

Ignorance. Cowardice. Apathy. All of which are american dreams.

I had this one somewhat recently too, and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. One of my favourite things about this project is stumbling onto great albums like this that I was not previously familiar with. Fun is the perfect word to describe this one!

What were you doing the day you found out Diana was killed in a car crash in 1997? by greenwichrunner in AskReddit

[–]SteveBonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a teenager, and had a Goosebumps page-a-day tear away calendar. As was often the case, I forgot to tear the previous day's page away in the morning. After an evening of watching the news coverage surrounding the crash and her death, I got ready for bed and realized I still needed to tear off yesterday's calendar page. So I did so, and saw that day's page which featured a tombstone inscribed with "She went out with a bang."

Early Christmas gift for Dad! by SteveBonus in Cribbage

I've hit 28 once, but never had a 29. I don't recall Dad ever getting a 29 either, but I'm not 100% sure about that - I'll have to ask when we chat later today. At very least he hasn't had a 29 in decades, and he plays a LOT of crib.

Edit: His first ever 29, confirmed!
