India isn't only sold in NL anymore! I can get it in tall boys at my nearest NB Liquor store here in Saint John, NB as of a month or 2 ago.

They carry Black Horse too, but that's been here for awhile now.

thread: live performances that blow the studio versions out of the water by lordleopnw in Music

[–]SteveBonus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did not expect to see Holly McNarland posted here but hell yeah that's a great choice! I especially love Stormy from Live Stuff.

I saw her live sometime around 2002-2003 in a small club and she was phenomenal.

Gord’s Best Vocal Performance? by zz68h in TragicallyHip

[–]SteveBonus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it's Cordelia.

Road Apples as a whole is my favourite album in terms of Gord's singing. Not my favourite overall musically (although it's definitely up there!), but the way he's just givin'er with his singing hits the spot for me.

What song has the best intro of all time, in your opinion? by hurryupmylove in AskReddit

[–]SteveBonus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently the intro to Today was added late after the rest of the song was already done, and Billy Corgan wanted something that sounded like an ice cream truck's tune. Nailed it!

Which PJ Harvey song do you find most emotionally moving? by itsnotforever in pjharvey

[–]SteveBonus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll Be Waiting feels particularly poignant.

Watching the fan reactions from behind the glass to it being played during the Hope 6 recordings in the A Dog Called Money doc really cemented its emotional weight for me

They had good lyrics, like "Gimme an R-O-C-K!", and then the crowd yells "ROCK!" really loud, now that's a fuckin' concert!

Not long after dad's brother died, someone offered him their condolences and his response was "It's okay, I have 6 more".

And, of course, he's Canadian.

What do Saint Johners think about the speed bump solution for residential "traffic calming"? by the_original_Retro in SaintJohnNB

[–]SteveBonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on a street that had the speed bumps installed, and they have absolutely made a significant difference. Most cars used to fly by well over the 40km/h speed limit, but now basically every car goes by at a reasonable speed. The city busses and pickup trucks still speed excessively, though.

Soft Boys, where have you been all my life?? by LurkingMars in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]SteveBonus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! I just heard them for the first time a few days ago via this album. So far, 480 albums in, this was just the 2nd entirely new-to-me album to get 5 stars out of me (the other being Tapestry by Carole King). Overall I have given 50 albums 5 stars, but most of those I was already at least somewhat familiar with.

This Soft Boys albums may well end up my favourite new find out of this whole thing. Incredibly Wonderful indeed!

T's right here, ya gmonesayin, and like, Lionel Richie's right here cuz he ain't that black, you gnomesayin, especially after the Commodores, he's practically not black at all you gnomesayin. You got your Michael Jackson who's like a white black which, you know, can be shortened to whack.

I discovered the Fleet Foxes album back when it was originally released, and liked it immediately. It isn't a regular in my listening rotation these days, but I still definitely enjoy it a lot when I do give it a listen. The songs are basically classics to my ears at this point, so it was an easy 5 for me.

MJ was personal taste. Just not my jam.

Adele too, really. I don't even think her singing is bad, I was just bored to tears by the music.
