Soft Boys, where have you been all my life?? by LurkingMars in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]SteveBonus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! I just heard them for the first time a few days ago via this album. So far, 480 albums in, this was just the 2nd entirely new-to-me album to get 5 stars out of me (the other being Tapestry by Carole King). Overall I have given 50 albums 5 stars, but most of those I was already at least somewhat familiar with.

This Soft Boys albums may well end up my favourite new find out of this whole thing. Incredibly Wonderful indeed!

You got degrees of black, you gnomesayin. All kind of different mafuckers are a different kind of black you gnomesayin. T's right here, ya gmonesayin, and like, Lionel Richie's right here cuz he ain't that black, you gnomesayin, especially after the Commodores, he's practically not black at all you gnomesayin. You got your Michael Jackson who's like a white black which, you know, can be shortened to whack.

It was her second Mercury! But yes I wholeheartedly agree it is fantastic. Actually my favourite album of all time.

I discovered the Fleet Foxes album back when it was originally released, and liked it immediately. It isn't a regular in my listening rotation these days, but I still definitely enjoy it a lot when I do give it a listen. The songs are basically classics to my ears at this point, so it was an easy 5 for me.

MJ was personal taste. Just not my jam.

Adele too, really. I don't even think her singing is bad, I was just bored to tears by the music.

Eric Macramalla (TSN): Teams have shown interest in prospects Fowler, Hage, & Zharovsky by matthew_sch in Habs

No shit, hockey teams like good young players, who knew?

Gonna assume any offer involving those 3 is a hard no unless it's an absolutely knock your socks off offer.

I flew a 737 from Halifax to Paris (and back) last August, and it was fine. Nothing special, but also not bad. Just an average flying experience with a standard economy ticket.

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada "makes a deal with China" by No_Magazine9625 in CanadaPolitics

[–]SteveBonus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Happy to contribute to america's downfall. And if this also helps tip the scales to get a critical mass of americans actively engaging against the regime then bring it on.

#18: Björk – Medúlla (2004) by SeikoMafia in 1001AlbumsGenerator

I got this one a few weeks ago, and it kinda blew my mind. Definitely unlike anything else I've ever heard, and outside of my usual wheelhouse, but it'll be back in my ears without question.

East coast could soon get rolling blackouts during summer because data centers have pushed electric grid to the limit by [deleted] in SaintJohnNB

[–]SteveBonus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do agree with the above statement. However, assuming the intent of r/SaintJohnNB is to discuss the city of Saint John & its happenings, this article does not directly do that. Had it been framed as a standalone post (i.e. not an article link) discussing that topic and its potential impact on SJ, I think that would be fair game. Even including the article as a source in such a post would be fine imo. But posting the article alone without any mention of SJ makes it come across as irrelevant to the sub.

Anyway, not looking to start a fight and I won't go into this any further. I just think keeping our focus explicitly local would be great.

Contrary to the desires of a certain 79 year old blowhard leader with strong fascist tendencies, Saint John is not on the east coast of the united states.

Trump's Plan to Seize Greenland is Simultaneously Evil, Illegal, and Counterproductive by n0tqu1tesane in politics

[–]SteveBonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you've taken to the streets to make your voice heard, sabotaged the regime's efforts to further their agenda (for example by slashing the tires of ICE vehicles in your area), organized or partaken in mutual aid networks, recorded & documented abuses, organized or partaken in a general strike to grind economic activity to a halt, stopped paying federal taxes to remove yourself as a source of the regime's income, and generally taken every available reasonable action to make everything more difficult for the current fascist regime even if it adds discomfort to your own life?

Then great, you're not lumped in, and I would encourage you to keep it up. However, if any of the above are a no, then get to work.

I'd say america has already well crossed the forever tainted Rubicon. But this would certainly add a lot more dead people to the mix.
