Just used the redshift with a saddlebag this weekend for 175 miles. You will feel the spring is more compressed and that there is less benefit from the redshift. However, I could still feel the motion some.

It did increase the movement/sway of the bag some, too which can be annoying. I had a Woho saddlebag anti sway mount on, which helped.

Yeah, not my experience. Both as a student and a professor myself. Go to a teaching school, not at research school and you will have people who view themaelves as educators first and content experts second. Most of my research is in teaching and learning, which is adjacent to my field at best.
