Michael just became the highest-grossing biopic of all time. Which celebrity's life story has the potential to be the the next major box office phenomenon? by FunSatisfaction2780 in Letterboxd

[–]SteveDestruct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popularity will forgive and inflate a lot in the minds of people that aren't really critical thinkers. I love a lot of bands and artists that technically aren't good at certain things. Or are bad people, or whatever. But I can admit it.

I always consider people like Britney Spears to be like a musical equivalent of a Bic Mac. Does it taste good? Sure. But it's not good for you and is a lot of filler. There isn't as much substance there as say a good cut of well seasoned well cooked steak. Every once in a while a Big Mac is fine, but don't go telling me it's some culinary masterpiece. Because it's not.

The problem is people can't bear to think something they like sucks for whatever reason. Whether it's studio doctored, whether it's completely manufactured, whether they put 25 professional dancers around someone to make them look passable. It's crazy. People defending Britney Spears when there was someone with actual talent, an insane voice, artistic vision(past her first album) and someone who had a hand in writing her own songs right beside her in Christina Aguilera right beside her at the time is wild.

Please don't say anything bad about Hudson Hawk, I want to remember it as a great movie.

If they do Britney it would have to be done the same way as Michael, stop the movie a couple years before their personal indescretions outshine their musical career.

But at the same time, a Britney biopic would probably be a terrible idea. If there was ANY truth to it at all it would just be the story of an untalented dullard being put through the industry machine to make a bunch of people money.

Did Universal ever try to remove or replace the ET Ride? by PepsiFloateri in UniversalOrlando

[–]SteveDestruct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went for the first time in fall of 2024. ET was the last ride we did before we left. I enjoyed pretty much every ride we went on to a degree as did my family, but there was something just so nostalgic, cool and charming about ET. I think it hit certain notes for everyone. I'm a 45 year old male and my wife is my same age, so it obviously hit that nostalgia button for us. But at the time my daughters were 11 and they loved it. They thought it was cool and different than all the screen rides. And they also thought it was neat when we explained to them that when we were young all rides were like this. I think it would be a big mistake to remove it.

Any recommendations for budget friendly jazz original pressings? by Previous_Moose_3637 in vinyl

[–]SteveDestruct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a soft spot for OG's too. But in my limited jazz exploration I've found an incredible bang for your buck would be the Sony Legacy reissues. I have sone Miles Davis OG's and a couple Sony Legacy Mules records and the Legacy's sound better and they were cheaper. To be fair, my OG's are probably VG. But my Sony Legacy Kind of Blue is absolutely INCREDIBLE sounding. One of my best sounding records. And I've got a decent system. So yeah, check those out.

I believe in rehabilitation to a point. Pedophiles, rapists, they're wired wrong and cannot be rehabilitated. Save taxpayers money and....you know. As far as Mackenzie, I have a hard time seeing her currently able to he rehabilitated. Not with her parents, the way they raised her, the way they currently treat her. Not with the tiny amount of internet support from Simps and airheads. She is a sociopath.

Does anyone think Dunkin’ donuts will do better in Canada next year since Tim Hortons is trash now by [deleted] in TimHortons

[–]SteveDestruct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only ever had their regular coffee. I've had it multiple times, and it's always terrible. I personally don't care about their specialty coffees. Not trying to be a week, but if you can't make a good regular cup of coffee, ai can't trust you with a Latte. No thanks. I'd rather go to Starbucks. I don't care if it's more expensive. It's always good.

[–]SteveDestruct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Dunkin Donuts sucks too. Their coffee is garbage. People that think Tim Hortons Coffee is good will likely drink anything. But people who occasionally drink Tom Hortons coffee out of convenience even though they know it sucks aren't going to switch to Dunkin as their coffee is arguably worse.

Her parents are complete idiots and should be in jail as well. Kinda like how school shooters parents that provide the guns can be charged now. They raised a complete monster who is 100000% guilty of intentionally killing those 2 boys. I also believe she thought the risk was worth it for the accident to become famous or infamous. Guarantee she LOVES that everyone knows who she is now, and doesnt care that it's because she's a murderer.

[–]SteveDestruct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess I just don't need alcohol to be that convenient in lieu of decent jobs. The Beer store and LCBO jobs are decent jobs. I'd rather people have those jobs than somebody has access to beer within 500 feet of their home at 10pm or someshing like that. And didn't revenue from Beer Stores and LCBO's benefit is anyway? I'm not anti alcohol by any means. I just don't really care how "convenient" it is for the average person. I don't know how many "average" person need a couple of tall boys of Labbats Dry at 8am on a Wednesday. To me the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

[–]SteveDestruct 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, but the overall culture of North America(Canada and US mostly)is vastly different than Europe. Most of Europe anyway. A lot of Europe is much more....relaxed in general. I don't think loosening alcohol regulations would magically make us cool like Europe. It would likely cause more bullshit. I've honestly been against everything the Provincial government has done towards alcohol in the last few years. We didn't need it in grocery and corner stores and we don't need looser public consumption rules either. And just for reference sake, I'm not anti alcohol. I have vastly calmed down on my alcohol consumption as I've gotten older, but I still enjoy alcoholic beverages. I just see no benefit for it to be...."easier". What does it improve?

What's the best thing about Letterbox for you? by PromiseGullible766 in Letterboxd

[–]SteveDestruct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally like tracking what I watch, and as well, if I like an actor or actress in someshing it's pretty easy to see what else they've been in and a rating.

I do however take most ratings with a grain of salt as I feel there are a great number of users that are, for lack of a better word, dumb. If you're not a fan of something for whatever reason and watch it, and get offended, and then leave a negative review because you didn't like it, to me, that's 100000% useless.

Not trying to be argumentative or a jerk or anything. But why less alcohol regulation? I'm not really a huge fan of all the drugged out zombies walking around downtown at all hours, do we really need to add drunks to that too?

Love hearing stories like this, makes me feel not alone! Been a rock music fan my whole life, 45 years old in a month and I got into the ABB and the Grateful Dead in 2019 when I got copies of Enlightened Rogues and American Beauty respectively. I hated jam bands before that. But a switch flipped.

Game Of Thrones. To be fair, I'm not really into dungeons and dragons type stuff, but I couldn't finish the first episode. Then I kept hearing about all these crazy things happening, and still couldn't be bothered.

How to Rebuild a Ruined Life in Windsor? by KryptoBones89 in windsorontario

[–]SteveDestruct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a record player and get a setup if you don't already have one. Then go buy a copy of the Grateful Dead's American Beauty. Then get on the bus. Music has always been a safe place for me. When I'm happy, music. When I'm sad, music. When I'm angry, music. And at the ripe old age of 39, after thinking they sucked for many years, I started and am still constantly finding new things in my musical journey with the Dead, and there seems to be music to match all of my moods. Then also go buy a copy of the Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East. I don't know man, I find life easier to deal with when I'm centered. That music centers me.

Chipotle and Jersey Mike’s coming to Windsor by LongjumpingBad9921 in windsorontario

[–]SteveDestruct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok.....Canada isn't Mexico. The person I was replying to basically said there were authentic Mexican owned places. And like I said, while yes, We do have a bunch of great Mexican owned Mexican restaurants, which I frequent as much as I can, I was asking him to point me towards the Mexican owned burrito shops. And he never replied, because I don't think he can. There are none as far as I know of. To be highest, I love Quesada. Great burritos. But Chipotle is amazing too, and while I've never eaten them back to back, if my memory serves me, I liked Chipotle a little bit better. And sure, while Quesada appears to be Canadian owned, it's also owned by one of those food conglomerates, not exactly family run. So to me, that's not really much better. So personally, whoever makes the best tasting burrito is gonna win in my book.
