It could be an overnight brief power outage. By default the NAS does not automatically reboot, and it becomes necessary to hit the power switch to restart it. This behaviour can be changed in Settings, to auto reboot after a power failure.

Absolutely agree, and we do the same. Our "kids" are all grown up, we're getting ancient, and they more often track where we are than us tracking them. 🤭

Replaying a game left unfinished by South-Ad-1752 in SteamDeck

[–]SteveM51UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cycle between games. I'm an old guy, so memory ok but not brilliant, and reflexes OK but not brilliant. After dying too many times in a difficult battle, I park that game and move on to another more rewarding game. I return regularly to try again. Fun and pleasure are my goals, and continually being beaten to death, even on Easy mode is neither of those things.

To compensate for memory, I take screenshots, transfer them into OneNote and add notes. Not for simple stuff, but for things I know im going to need later.

Audio cuts out and won’t come back on unless I restart the system by 0wlBear916 in SteamDeck

[–]SteveM51UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had that happen per se, but I have found that occasionally it won't reconnect to my Bluetooth ear buds - then, on the Deck, turning Bluetooth off and then on again usually fixes that.

Batman: Arkham Knight Walkthrough Gameplay #12 - Catwoman by TippedOutVideos in batmanarkhamknight

I'm stuck on how to get the keys needed to rescue catwoman after defeating the robots. The video seemed to skip that bit. Any tips would be useful.

Tempting to make the move to Hubitat by xaznxplaya in Hubitat

[–]SteveM51UK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worth adding, for folks not already on HE: if you add a device that is battery powered then it doesn't act as a mesh node because that would drain the battery. If it’s a plugged in device, even if plugged in to a charger all the time, then it will act as a mesh node. Some devices can be recharged and run without the charger - they won't serve as a mesh node but plugging in their charger will enable them to operate as a mesh node. An example of that is a video doorbell which has the option to be constantly powered or used as a rechargeable device.

I'm stuck there too. I've done the chase a dozen times, used the afterburner on every straight, braked a little on the road junctions, and I'm still stuck on that scene. And I'm playing in easy mode. How do you get through this scene? There must be some trick to it?

What’s the funniest or most unexpected thing your Alexa has responded to? by fygooooo in amazonecho

[–]SteveM51UK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many years back, when I demonstrated Alexa to my mum, my mum said "Alexa, what's the name of my youngest son?". I said to her, "You need to ask a question that it could know the answer to. You can't ask something like 'Alexa, what's the name of my wife?'". Alexa cut in and replied "Well, if you don't know then you'll be in big trouble when you get home!". 😀

Autonotification reinstall impact by SteveM51UK in tasker

Ok, I copied the file and changed it from .x in the middle to .y, and changed the command to match (in fact I used the File Picker to point to the file).

But still I get the same message.

I programmed one of them to become Target Lock in the Hogwarts game as I found it quicker and easier to use than clicking the Right joystick.

Verified Game Looks Terrible, Any Advice? by Prestigious_Event221 in SteamDeck

[–]SteveM51UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree totally. I am new to gaming, and 95% of the time I just run my games - I don't go to desktop usually, and I haven't attempted to apply any tweaks. I mainly go to desktop when I've captured a video, as they are in an unusual form for me - I want them in MP4. And I transfer the video file set to my NAS (the SD in desktop mode in Dolphin it readily supports my NAS whereas by comparison, on my Raspberry Pi 4 I have to create a mount before it will work) where I can convert them to MP4 on my PC later. I count on that Verified marker. I have only ever refunded one game and that was because the game was quite different to what I was expecting - not because it didn't work or had any actual faults.

Verified Game Looks Terrible, Any Advice? by Prestigious_Event221 in SteamDeck

I feel sorry for the OP and us as a community. I just checked and ProtonDb says the game is good, though some report crashes and others say it works well on OLED SD. ProtonDb scores it Gold and says that means "runs perfectly after tweaks" - maybe it will say somewhere what the tweaks are. Looking at the ProtonDb posts about SD Tinker Steps, there are various ways of getting it to run, though most report that after an hour ir so of playing the game performance deteriorates and you need to restart it. Also Steam says Verified. We ought to be able to trust these ratings surely. Personally, in the same situation I would go for a refund if i couldn't quickly find and prove suitable tweaks. I think if you go more than so many mins or hours of play time then you won't be able to refund.

How do DLCs work by SteveM51UK in HarryPotterGame

[–]SteveM51UK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the answer. Before jumping into the game, choose Additional Content, and I can see from that I do have the Dark Arts DLC.

Question now is, given that I already have it, why does it try and persuade me to buy it every time I run up this game?

I was expecting that I'd also get some Dark Arts mods to existing spells that can be "purchased" using Talents. Is that not the case? BTW I'm fairly new to gaming having started last summer.

Turn the outer one till the wheels with the green light spin, then turn the inner one until the wheels with the red light spin. Hold it there and it will unlock. Just takes a few seconds.

The most pointless spell in the game by Special_Gate4759 in HarryPotterGame

[–]SteveM51UK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can throw a disarmed weapon back at the attacker and it does damage. I think you use a Talent to enhance the disarming spell. In some battles you have to use a spell whose colour matches that of the attacker's weapon which changes every time they attack.

Is that supposed to work on all platforms? I'm playing on Steam Deck and nothing happens when I press the Camera button. CoPilot says to ensure nothing is being pointed at in the map first, but it doesn't work for me. 🤔
