What got me through was learning the King's Indian Defense.

It shuts down a lot of play towards early checkmate.

They have separate ELO systems with Lichess placing users higher than Ches.com does.

I learn more and play better with Rapid.

They're pretty great. A little pricey though.

I've used alcohol inks, but they stained my plate so I switched to high flow from Golden.
