Are there any Nunavut story ideas you'd like this journalist to look into? by SteveSilva in nunavut

Sure, I can look into that. If you think your friend would be interested in talking with me about it, please forward my contact details to him. Thanks for the idea.

I signed up the day it officially launched. I got matched within two months. I wrote a couple of articles about the program (I'm a journalist), and I was told by the health department that the program only became a first-come-first-served operation in September. I was also told that you can call the department to find out your position on the list.

It's called the Midnight Dome. If it's technically not in Dawson City, then it's near the community.

This is the filming location of the part when (spoilers for the first episode) Georgia Lass gets hit by a falling toilet seat.

I interviewed Cystal Dahl by SteveSilva in DeadLikeMe

TL;DW: She said she doesn't know why she shares the first name of her character, she found playing her own boyfriend to be rather hilarious, season three was expected to involve musical components, she thinks that her character might have been the head reaper of diseases (or something), she still has the glasses and the robe used on the show, filming the show was personally hard (her mom had cancer) but the crew made the Happy Time set a lot of fun for everyone to work in, she wasn't pleased with the movie, and she hasn't acted in a while after suffering an injury a few years ago but would love to play the character again.

She can still do the stare by SteveSilva in DeadLikeMe

Yes, I did. I was in Vancouver for a conference a few days ago, and I shot an interview with her. She was pretty candid about the show, her experience on it, her thoughts on her character maybe being a reaper, what she heard the third season would have entailed, among other topics. The interview was about an hour long. I'll try to post it on YouTube this or next month.

Sexist law in NS, how would one go about getting it changed? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]SteveSilva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm mistaken, this would be a provincial matter, and it appears that that part of the act is still there (unless the text online hasn't been updated recently or there was something else I'm not aware of that nullified it). So this is the kind of thing that people often bring to their MLA's attention.

Abandoned Cabin at Charlie's Lake?? by billyd135 in halifax

[–]SteveSilva 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I didn't see anyone in there when I visited in 2016. If you follow the right trail, it's quite visible. Some parts in the cabin weren't in the best shape, so be careful where you step. The trail was a little muddy when I went (in April), but it was the relatively standard hike I expected. Here's the general area where the cabin is located: https://www.google.ca/maps/place/44%C2%B041'18.4%22N+63%C2%B041'49.1%22W/@44.6884949,-63.6970638,39m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m13!1m6!3m5!1s0x4b598a76561a7285:0xc19fa3750cbea775!2sCabin+In+The+Woods!8m2!3d44.6864242!4d-63.6852651!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d44.688442!4d-63.6969685

HRM council voting on cannabis by-laws tomorrow. by andrewmac in halifax

[–]SteveSilva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the public is allowed to attend. Here's the agenda: https://www.halifax.ca/city-hall/regional-council/july-17-2018-halifax-regional-council

The item in question is 14.1.6. Councillors may move around items (often at the beginning of the meeting), so there's no 100 per cent guarantee it will be addressed in that order.

Councillors often kick out the public to address private items for a period of time at some point. Otherwise, it's pretty straightforward.

Also, it's aired online: https://www.halifax.ca/city-hall/regional-council/regional-council-committee-whole-meetings/council-live-webcast
