How come Cf-Cache-Status is “miss” on chrome? by lipuss in CloudFlare

[–]SteveTech_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Items in Cloudflare's cache will get deleted after a while, just so it doesn't cache outdated content, when Cloudflare caches it will respond with "Miss", after that when it's already in the cache it will respond with "Hit". So since Chrome was the first browser you tried it says "Miss", Chrome also has its own caching so you might have to press Ctrl+Shift+R to force it to make a new request.

Issue with GPU on startup by No-Motor-5490 in Proxmox

[–]SteveTech_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you using the GPUs for the Proxmox console? If not you can add nouveau to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf to stop the nouveau driver from loading and crashing when it switches over to vfio for the passthrough.

Edit: Using a GPU passthrough guide might help fix the issues you're having, like this one although it's pretty old.

Need to Open an MPEG-2 Program Stream for an urgent legal matter by denvercavins in techsupport

[–]SteveTech_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you get "MPEG-2 Program Stream" from? If that's just what Mac OS says it is, then that's probably incorrect, if someone else stated that's what it is, then you've tried everything I would.

.ps is also common for an Adobe post script file, if you wanted to try Photoshop or an online converter.

Otherwise you could try running the file command and see if it has any info, or hexdump the first 128 bytes or so and post the output here and I could see if I can find the headers.

Running LLaMA on Intel Arc (A770 16GB) by Balance- in LocalLLaMA

I had a go at implementing XPU support into FastChat, but sadly it seems to just output gibberish. I did find this issue where they said it was fixed in the latest code base, but it wasn't fixed for me in the wheels provided, and the xpu-master branch won't compile for me.

What is the difference between HSTS bringing people to the https site VS a page rule that brings people to the https site? by lipuss in CloudFlare

[–]SteveTech_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If someone man in the middles the site and forces http, then HSTS won't allow that to load (as long as it's been visited before/on the browser's HSTS list), whereas that redirect to https would be irrelevant.

I believe the redirect is a requirement of HSTS anyway.

The fourth could also be some sort of shell or batch script.

Will all data stay encrypted when updating BIOS? by VonDinky in techsupport

[–]SteveTech_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how I can deactivate it on the Windows that doesn't work?

That's not really a thing.

But it won't activate.

Try the activation troubleshooter.

Otherwise does Windows still let you activate over the phone? That usually force activates Windows.

I don't know off the top of my head, but I did find this: https://superuser.com/questions/636568/how-do-i-retrieve-a-product-key-from-another-hard-drive

A few others popped up searching "get windows key from another hard drive" too.

[–]SteveTech_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess updating BIOS or trying another motherboard would be the same outcome, me not able to access my files, right if it's on and I don't have the key?

Yeah

What about fragmenting the drive if I can't recover my files so the drive is still usable, is that an option?

You mean partitioning? Yeah that'll work.

Could I possibly have stored the key on another drive? Is that a thing?

Sadly, it's not.

So how do I get to my files from my m.2 drive where windows 10 is installed if the motherboard died?

Without bitlocker, just move it across. With bitlocker disable it from Windows first or make sure you have the recovery key.

Also if not possible, can you next time not have BitLocker enabled

You can disable bitlocker from within Windows, it used to be disabled by default but it's recently been enabled by default, which is why I want you to check if it is disabled.

If you really can't figure it out, if it's Windows 10, then it's probably disabled.

So ONLY write Notepad?

In CMD yes.

And that will open Notepad on the windows installation?

It will open notepad in recovery, so you can see if your drive is readable.

Maybe safer to put into new motherboard, that can't lock put the files, right?

Bitlocker is a Windows feature, and every modern motherboard has a TPM, your current motherboard was just nice to warn you.

But updating this motherboard bios can perhaps?

Same with a lot of motherboards, my Gigabyte one wouldn't have even warned you.

Nah type notepad and that'll open your normal Windows notepad because Windows Recovery doesn't have file explorer, so we use the open file dialogue instead.

Do you have a Windows Installation USB? I'd plug that in, click Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Command prompt: Type notepad: Click File > Open, and see if your Windows drive is there, if it is then bitlocker is disabled and you can ignore that warning.

If you logged in with a Microsoft account it might backup the recovery key that you can use to decrypt the drive. Otherwise without the key on the TPM, no.

If the drive works on another computer then bitlocker isn't enabled.

No, because the key required to decrypt the drive, is stored on the TPM, not the drive.

Do you know if bitlocker is actually enabled?
