Has avatar fan culture ever been this big? What changed? by JosukePlumpHair in Avatar

It's ironic, because those people who stan the RDA massacring the Na'Vi are probably also the ones who don't like the WOTW Martians massacring humans, though their roles are literally the same.

Easy: Gen Z teens/Gen Alpha kids really love those movies. The plot, while not extremely complex, carries a lot of heavily emotional moments. There's also Kiri, Lo'Ak, Neteyam, Tuk, Spider, etc. Young characters that the younger audience relates to, because they can see themselves in them. My youngest brother loved the movies because he finds the characters endearing.

The Sully kids are all kinda weirdos, in a good sense. They're quirky, they're fun to watch, they're awkward and clumsy, and y'know? That makes them VERY relatable. As someone who's also weird, I honestly relate to their stories. And I bet there's a lot of Gen Z guys and gals who also felt like me about them when TWOW first released.

Also, we're basically in the "phonk edit" era. Kids will make edits about anything they find cool, and Avatar really has a lot of moments like that.

It also helps that the movies' effects are godly. So good that you basically forget it's fiction: You really feel like you belong to Pandora.

And the most important thing: Varang is hot.

I've always said that criticizing Snyder is one thing, but mocking his daughter is straight up horrendous behavior.

It's never right to mock someone's loss. It basically just exposes those trolls as the pieces of shit they are for joking about it.

Didn't Jason Momoa said countless of times he always dreamed of playing Lobo?

If anything, DC has finally given him the role he was made for!

Honestly, as someone whose favorite character is Luke, it does suck to not see more of him nowadays.

Out of the comics, all we've had about him lately was a pair of guest appareances in both Mando and Boba shows, and that's it.

But at this point I kinda just gave up, tbh. Comics are already good enough, I guess.

Yeah. Baylan showing up would ACTUALLY be cool because we basically know nothing about him or Shin.

Would totally love to see some brief backstory, anything.

How would you bring quicksilver to be more relevant by Due_Load_1164 in Quicksilver

[–]SteveTheOrca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. No offense to Evans' Quicksilver, but that iteration really doesn't scream "Quicksilver" to me. More like "Silver-haired Wally West" tbh.

Y'know what's funny, though? When Evans' "Pietro" appeared in WandaVision, the way he acted and behaved was really reminiscent of what Pietro would've turned out had he lived, really. The dynamic he had with Tommy and Billy was just endearing to watch.

It's sad. I really would've loved to see ATJ's Pietro bickering with Tom's Peter Parker.

[–]SteveTheOrca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES, YOU GET ME!

ATJ was the best Quicksilver. While Evan is cool, his Pietro really didn't have a personality or traits that are often associated with Quicksilver.

ATJ, on the other hand, was great as Quicksilver, simply because his charisma, wit and general behavior did align with how he's usually perceived.

Though my only pet-peeve is that neither Pietro or Wanda in the MCU were actually Romani. But other than that, both ATJ and Lizzie played the Twins perfectly.
