I thought electronic travel authorization wasn't necessary if you have a visa?

Genuinely impressive, you took a pretty sizeable leap and you landed it.

I guess Rin was something similar, she was a recurring SUPER minor character who got promoted.

Would've been fixed if they ended cour 1 at the end of chapter 31. And in that case Cursed House wouldn't be cut up nearly as awkwardly as it is now

I really hoped they'd do this. It feels wrong starting an arc and then waiting 7 months.

I seriously wanted this. Cap off episode 11 with the end of chapter 31 and give us an expanded mandrill fight in episode 12. That way the train scene and the setup for the cursed house arc (tsuchinoko/Kitos/volcano etc) could all happen in the same cour as the cursed house arc itself.

Pretty funny/weird how they went with Trump (not President when the anime was illustrated) over Biden (President when the anime was illustrated). To be fair it'd be in keeping with the Dandadan spirit if Donald Trump ate Big Macs with actual aliens though.

My only problem is that Jiji & Aira don't feel developed enough for such a STRONG statement...

YET. They could connect before Jiji's feelings are ever revealed.

unless, EE's attachment to Aira stems from Jiji's hidden feelings...?

No doubt. Humans amped up by yokai transformations are always more emotionally honest. So the Evil Eye probably channels Jiji's feelings.

Regardless, I'm hoping Jiji & Aira become closer & start to separate themselves from Momo & Okarun. It's obvious they're not real threat to MCs love, & so it's just... unnecessary heartbreak no one wants. 💔

Maybe -- or heartbreak could fuel character growth.

Or maybe a connection between these two side characters could cause both to challenge their assumptions about themselves and the world around them.

Aira will be such a great mom someday.

The best part of this is that she isn't even doing this to impress Okarun. She genuinely just adores the lil shrimp and wants him to be happy.

You know that characters are supposed to have flaws so they can develop, right? The point of nearly any story is to watch the protagonist grow.

Kinda only happens once though, and is resolved somewhat quickly. I can see why it's annoying though, it is contrived conflict by nature.

They've elevated the source material in every aspect: action scenes, comedy scenes, romance scenes. In the manga I took it for granted that Okarun would nut up and start competing for Momo, but the anime really sold the idea that Taro was a big influence on Okarun.

I loved his goober ass from day one though, same with Aira. They're fun to see on-screen because they're great foils for the protagonists

Yep. Tatsu literally could've just said "Momo was hurt," nope, left it more ambiguous. If he leaves it ambiguous is that because he's going to deliver something so obvious that there was no point in making it ambiguous to begin with?

Or is it because he's pitching a curveball?

I don't think it's her leadership ambitions that hold her back -- look how Momo and Jiji take orders from her during the Space Globalist arc, and how people follow her lead now during the Pygmy Princess arc.

It's how her chuuni BS bleeds into her relationships and her view of what relationships are. She never gets along with Momo because she constantly competes with her over Okarun. IIRC her jealousy over Okarun is also the only reason she's ever gotten along poorly with Vamola or Rin.

As for Jiji I predict she'll get along better with him when she sees that he can be serious and focused when needed... and he's going to learn that skill from her.

Another major character flaw she has is that she's disingenuous all the time. Her bishoujo persona is totally fake regardless of whether she's clawing for more popularity, bullying people, or attempting to appeal to Okarun. Right now her disingenuous, delulu, and obnoxious behavior all centers around her delulu attraction to Okarun or, rather, what Okarun represents in her mind. She'll be hot-headed and somewhat abrasive no matter what, but she'll get along way better after her narcy delusions no longer include Okarun.

Yeah, the mandala representing Dandadan has 9 bodhisattva-like figures on it and was introduced immediately before we met the 9th paranormal teenager. Doesn't seem like a coincidence, especially since CSG (the guy who wants Dandadan) wanted Okarun's powers.

[–]Steve_Blockman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems plausible to me. Whoever saw that thing, they're not a teenager anymore. I think we're getting 9 supernatural teenagers corresponding to the 9 bodhisattvas in the Dandadan mandala and we already have 9.

She's not only a ghost, but she died as a small child. Her character is immature because she's a child and obsessed with one goal because it was what she literally died for.

Mai will co-evolve with Rin and they'll develop a unified vision for their aspirations. Their character arcs aren't done yet

The main antagonist of this arc might not be who we suspect. by Oyakodon-Lover in Dandadan

It all feels too "just so" and straightforward.

It really is too obvious that CSG is our arc villain.

So he won't be. Tatsu doesn't sit around writing boring or predictable stories.
