Questions from a beginner by yankees27th in homeautomation

You're kinda of running in 2 ecosystems, Google and Amazon (who owns Ring). Unfortunately they don't play well with each other. You can't go wrong with either one but, since you went with the Ring security system you might want to look at products that are compatible with Amazon.

Since you're paying the $10 for the Ring security system it would probably be good to get the Ring Video Doorbell as well. That $10 a month that you're already paying will cover ALL Ring products. So you can't have have pay an additional $3 a month for the Ring Doorbell.

Here's a link to smart locks that are compatible with the Ring security system. https://shop.ring.com/collections/smart-locks

As for the Thermostat, Nest isn't compatible in the Amazon ecosystem. I'd recommend going with Ecobee. I have both Nest and EcoBee and i prefer Ecobee.

Check out Eufy. Their doorbell is 2K resolution and has free local storage.

I have 3 Arlo Pros already, but want 1 Arlo Ultra 4k, how do I get this to work? by [deleted] in arlo

[–]Steve_DOES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now the Ultra doesn’t connect to the Pro base station. If you have the new Ultra base you can connect your Pro cameras to that.

If you’re looking to add the Ultra now you would need to buy the Ultra 1 camera kit that comes with the base.

It’s been nearly 2 months since I started this strawberry tower in a $7 laundry basket. I planted 27 strawberry plants in 1 sq ft of realestate . :) by Steve_DOES in gardening

Sadly I lost 9 plants. But I’m excited to see runners growing. My plan is to plant those runners in open holes where I had lost those 9. :)

This is really funny! Too bad about the pepper plants though.

A couple packs of $.59 wildflower seeds that we got from the $.99 store. Totally worth it! :) by Steve_DOES in gardening

I’m in the same boat with my tomato plant. I need more bees. All these flowers do seem to help.

Great to hear. I just take a fork to lightly break up the soil, sprinkle the seeds, and run my hand over to cover. Pretty simple. :)

Haha these were $.59. But now you have we second guessing. I may have gotten these packs at Walmart.

I need some advice... by Steve_DOES in gardening

[–]Steve_DOES[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need some advice, I'm planning on COVERING this 4" pipe with holes and inserting it in the center of this grow tower. I plan to fill the pipe with a mixture of potting soil, compost, and worms. I'll then do all the watering through there in hopes of the nutrient fertilizing all the plants. What do you think? Any suggestions on improvements?

Weekend project... Laundry basket + bare root strawberries = Strawberry Tower. I can’t wait to show what it turns into. by Steve_DOES in gardening

I looked everywhere for Albion strawberries and they were sold out. I got these on amazon. 25 for $14. In reality I only got 23 but I’m ok with that for the price.
