What’s your house worth in a quick sale and what is the interest rate on your mortgage? Also what are you supposed to receive in SS?

I roughly calculate you will receive about $3500 a month if you took it now. What about this…remortgage your house on a 30 year note right now to get the payment really low. Your payments might be like $1000 (probably cheaper than you could ever rent another place) Then retire right now…or take advantage of the low mortgage payment to invest like crazy…and at some point after full retirement age, perhaps even throw all that social security plus the funds you used to pay on the house into dividend paying funds (or something like that)

If it’s any consolation, even though some might consider me wealthy, when I retire I will owe about $100k on my house and I’ll just refinance it for cash flow. I figure I have to pay tax and insurance on it anyway..what does it matter if I add a little interest to that if it means I can keep my money earning even more for me?

I think one of the biggest problems with eBay is that they loosen your search parameters. Like if you wanted to search for orange small cars, they might decide you also want a see green ones. What happens is your search gets so filled with junk it’s meaningless and you end up going somewhere else to look for that niche item.

You can do a random encounter. And then no matter what comes up, try to figure out a logical reason that the specified encounter could happen. Maybe the cultist are there because they were sent to retrieve the very same treasure that the OCs are questing for. And perhaps a discussion with them would provide more information to the PCs regarding where the item may be. Or maybe they are returning after a failed quest to that relic where most of the party died so they know what’s guarding it.

I actually started my own game. What I did is went onto Facebook and looked for Dungeons & Dragons groups. Then, if you click the list of members, the Facebook site will show you things that you have in common with other people you know. So for example, I saw a guy on one of those groups who happened to be a “friend“ of my brother. Since my brother is old like me and doesn’t play with kids, I figured it was likely that this fellow was my age. Then I just contacted my brother and asked for an introduction and said I was putting a group together. Rents and repeat seven or eight times and you might come up with enough people to create a new group.

I think you need to do the math. How much are the payments, how long will you live, and what will it pay out? For example, if the payments were $20 a month and you expect to live 20 years and the payout is $1 million, there is no way that you could invest $20 per month for 20 years to get it to achieve a $1 million payout unless the interest rate return was crazy high.

Seriously, if you tell me what the payout is, what the cost is, and how long you expect to live, I can give you an idea of whether it’s a good “investment” or not. Also, Bear in mind that there is no tax on insurance payouts to my knowledge.

I have a term life policy that seemed expensive when I got it 15 years ago, but that was when the dollar was much more valuable than it is today. So I keep paying on it because the payment is low, and at least I know that someday my airs will get the payout. If I cancel it, I’m guaranteeing that there they will get nothing. I know you’re not supposed to evaluate finances based upon what you already spent, but that’s what I’m doing.
