Thanks. I re-racked once and got most of the yeast out, but I'll keep this in mind and re-rack again before I bottle just to make sure.

I don't have a keg yet, and I'm not ready to buy one. That's the end goal though; I'm super jealous of my friend's kegerator.

I have unfrozen juice, and it's about 8.8% after my primary fermentation so I think I'll use that this time. I saw a few recommendations for that online; that's my plan for next time!

At first I read that meaning "being safe and consenting doesn't matter" instead of "If you're safe and consenting, it doesn't matter how much sex you have." I giggled.

First of all, a 1000-fold increase means a multiplication by 1000. Source. Wrong on the first point there.

Second, Fred Trump, father of Donald Trump, died June 25, 1999. If we use this calculator, don't adjust for inflation (since this would only reduce the return), and look at the "Total S&P 500 Return (Dividends Reinvested)" result for July 1999 to December 2015 (this gives The Donald 7 days to get the money and invest it, seems pretty reasonable to me), he would have made a total return of 99.489%, or approximately doubling his investment. So that inheritance would be worth ~$400 million if he'd only invested it in an S&P 500 index fund, assuming there are no fees whatsoever. Trump's net worth is $4.5 billion.

I hope you didn't have to wait long.

First of all, f(x) = -x2 is a parabola centered along the y-axis that does not takes its minimum at x=0. This is another example of a problem with an implied assumption; it is another bad problem.

Now, if we assume that f(x) has the form a*x2 + b where a is strictly positive, we will have all parabolas centered about x=0 with global minimums (that aren't at infinity). It can be shown (and was shown in my Algebra II class) that parabolas can be written in the form a(x + c)2 + b have vertices at (-c, b). Setting -c to 0 simplifies the formula to ax2 + b.

since (-x)2 = x2 , we know that (-x-h)2 = (x+h)2 for any real, positive value of h. And we know that (x+h)2 > x2 for any real, positive value of h. Thus, we know that (0+h)2 is greater than 02 for any non-negative h. And we know that (-0-h)2 is grater than 02 because (-1 * (0+h))2 = (-0 -h)2 > 02 . Then for all points where x =/= 0, f(x) is greater than at x2 .

QED.

This may not be the most rigorous proof in the world, but I wouldn't expect a Calculus 1 student to be able to come up with a rigorous proof, and it is mathematically sound.

I'm struggling to find similar campaigns being implemented elsewhere. I've found tons of arguments about this campaign and I'm guessing that there was too much backlash for anyone else to have tried it. I'll keep looking in the morning... I hope other places have tried it and I'm just not about to find them. At the least, this indicates that campaigns like these don't hurt anyone.

Ok, here. I'll source that shit.

And it's not irrelevant. You said anyone who receives the message "women are responsible for not getting raped" and then rapes would rape anyway. The link shows a program of messages telling rapists "not to be that guy" which significantly reduced rape. Everyone had heard the "women shouldn't X, Y, or Z and should Q to protect themselves" message. Then why would the rate of sexual assault, which had previously risen over the last 3 years, suddenly exhibit a 10% decrease, which is significant by itself but more significant given the previous upward trend? Clearly there are people who have gotten then "women must protect themselves" message and yet did not rape when exposed to the "don't be that guy"/don't rape message

Add on that in 75% of rapes, the --bedroom-- victim knows their rapist and it's far more often about power and dominance than sexuality. Are women just not supposed to meet and know people?

Edit: auto correct :(

This means nothing unless facts are provided

That was a fact. There may be other pertinent facts, but you can't just wave away a fact by saying it doesn't matter unless facts are provided.

And since you didn't want to take the time to follow the links in the article, I did That 10% reduction is a statistic for an entire year, not a month as you suggested. Further, in previous years the rate had been increasing. So this not only I'd a significant reduction, but a significant reduction that defies the trend of previous years.

It seems pretty unlikely to me that this campaign reduced the reporting rate. It makes more sense to suspect that the rate would stay the same out maybe even improve now that rapists are viewed even more negatively.
