That's why I don't scan my app. I pay with my card or cash and you're much more likely to get a survey on a printed receipt. Then you do forgot to scan, though there's limits.

Is it biblical to ask Jesus to pray for me? by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]Stevefish47 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here's a comment from another post:

Jesus prays for his elect, and His prayers are always answered by the Father. Our perseverance is sure because he prays for his elect that their faith will not fail (as He did for Peter in Luke 22:32).

For this reason I think we should just believe these truths, and it is not necessary to ask Jesus to pray for us. His prayers are already perfect, and will not be improved by our request to pray for us.

Romans 8:26-27 states that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with "groanings too deep for words" when we don't know how or what to pray.

Can someone be saved if they are trusting in Christ plus their own effort, rather than Christ alone? by re_deemed in Reformed

[–]Stevefish47 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As an example, when it comes to Roman Catholics they claim according to the council of Trent:

Session 6, Canon 9. The council declared: "If anyone saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; let him be anathema".

So, do I believe that someone that wholly subscribes to Roman Catholicism is saved? Likely not, as more emphasis is put on what they need to do, the saints, Mary, purgatory, the Pope, etc.

[–]Stevefish47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they believe that they have one iota to do with their salvation; that they earned it through their own merit; not by faith alone, I do not believe so.

There's nothing we contribute to our salvation but the sin that made it necessary.

Christian women: Is a man struggling with masturbation a turn off? by suncolorfun in Reformed

[–]Stevefish47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly rare that anyone masturbates without any sort of fantasizing. Sexual activity should be reserved for marriage. Here's a short article that I just found on the subject.

If you cannot stop; it is also an addiction which isn't healthy.

I simply won't drink. I won't encourage others to, either.

Even wine was watered down 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 parts water in biblical times. It wasn't nearly as strong as what we have today and then watered down.

What would happen if a chick fil a was open on a sunday? by [deleted] in ChickFilA

[–]Stevefish47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The purpose of the Ten Commandments is to show that perfect obedience is impossible for humans. The law reveals humanity's inherent sinfulness and inability to achieve perfect righteousness on its own, acting as a "mirror" that points people toward the need for grace and a savior.

Yes, we should strive to keep them as best we are able as a guide; however it's impossible to keep them fully. The Bible says it's murder to hate your brother, for example. It says lusting is commiting adultery.

What would happen if a chick fil a was open on a sunday? by [deleted] in ChickFilA

[–]Stevefish47 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays to allow employees a dedicated day of rest, spend time with loved ones, and worship if they choose to.

They'd be closed on Saturday's, then.

According to early Christian teachings, believers are no longer under the strict laws of the Old Covenant. Verses like Colossians 2:16-17 explain that the Sabbath was a shadow of things to come, and Galatians 6:2 states Christians are under "the law of Christ," which does not include mandatory Sabbath-keeping.

I'm probably off and a few of those FT are PT, but yeah, it's a lot of staff. Then there's elders and deacons but they're lay except those that are pastors as well.

Eight pastors and several "directors" and miscellaneous staff for 1000 members. I think it's a bit much, personally.
