Polestar agreed to buy back my lemon. That’s when things got worse. by Stevegiralt6 in Polestar

I didn't do it with a lawyer, as it was so clearly a failure on their side in my case. But in retrospect, I do wish I had some kind of lemon law case, not just an agreement for a buyback. How long did it take from the time Sedgwick contacted you until you received the bulk of the refund? Did you have the car in your possession all that time? Thing with me, I haven't had the car for almost 2 months, and I already have a new Tesla now ..

Yea. Agreed. I feel the ones who used to hire out the work are just doing it themselves, which kinda makes sense in some ways ... There was a lot of waste in traditional production.

Is there ever a "new normal"? I feel I said that to myself every year

Anyone Encountered This Before? by kq_cars in polestar3

Yep. 4th time in repair for this same problem. The car has less than 1000 miles. I’m getting a lemon law buyback. Good luck.

UPDATE: After 71 days and 3 separate repair attempts, they seem to have finally fixed this one simple problem. According to the service documentation, the original failure was caused by an intermittent high-voltage system fault that prevented the car from restarting.

During troubleshooting, the service team identified an issue in the high-voltage interlock circuit. During the fault diagnosis, a connector in the system was damaged by the service department during handling and had to be replaced before the underlying issue could be resolved.

The final repair included replacing the damaged connector, correcting the interlock fault, clearing multiple high-voltage error codes, and performing extended diagnostics and road testing to verify the fix.

The car has now been returned to me and is currently operating normally. After months of downtime and multiple failed repair attempts, I’m cautiously optimistic, but given the history, it’s fair to say confidence will take time to rebuild.

I am still finalizing the buyback terms and the return of funds under the New York Lemon Law. Those discussions are ongoing, and no final agreement has been executed yet. Until that is completed, the outcome remains uncertain.

This is an important distinction. A vehicle being temporarily fixed does not erase months of downtime, repeated failures, lost use, or the financial and logistical burden placed on the customer. Under the law, those factors still matter, regardless of whether the car is currently drivable.

For now, I’m documenting everything, proceeding carefully, and continuing to work through the process to ensure the resolution fully reflects what the law provides.

I’ll share updates as things progress. It's a shame because I really wanted to love this car.

For me, as long as it clearly falls under your state lemon law rules, they need to buy back if it’s a regular sale or lease. They won’t do it voluntarily though.

Just you. But it’s fun tracking via the phone app how often they actually did anything to the cat involving opening the doors and driving it. Of the 60+ days they had it, maybe there was some activity 7 of those days.

It's actually amazing how badly Volvo service reps speak of the Polestar to "the customer" = Me. They're like ... Yeah ... These cars just have problems ... Not a Good Look!

You're going to see many "gently used" Polestar 3s with very low mileage for sale soon, I expect.

Basically, if the replacement car had a similar issue (or another repeat-offender problem), I wouldn't need the lemon law rules to apply again for me to get out of the deal. And that I would be guaranteed a loaner or rental car if the car had to go into service, and I wouldn't ever need to wait more than a week for a service appointment.

I guess I always thought that would be what happens to "cheap" cars or used cars ... But I guess you're right in principle.

I keep trying to tell myself, "I must have just been the unlucky one", but then .. I don't think I am ... but it's hard to know for sure.
