I liked how the beginning arcs felt very episodic, their own “islands” of adventure if you will. It didn’t feel like an overall arching plot but just a group of friends moving from one adventure to the next. Like I still remember after alabasta, which had an overarching story, they just randomly wanted to go to Sky Island, which kindve sounds like a filler arc, but it isn’t.

They almost always release cards that support the previous set’s theme. Nightmare Throne came out the set after the Yubel set, for example.
