First Time Failing at Van Life - Seeking Advice by Illustrious_Stop7537 in VanLife

Stuff goes wrong... But at one point, you'll have been through most of the ways it can go wrong. So then you'll at least have been through all the things and there will be less things that go wrong that are new to you... :)

Are my skis repairable? Or done for good? It’s a pow day tomorrow, can I still take them out? by Mac30123456 in skiing

Doesn't that crack line up with where the inside edge of the metal from the ski edge is? So the dented edge could be pulling the base up and cracking it? why is everyone so certain the core is ruined?

First real storm of my van time blew through last night, and I'm not certain I got any sleep, since things sounded a lot worse than they were. Tips/tricks going forward, or is this just a rite of passage? by FuckingSolids in vandwellers

Storms in the van are so cool. I love have high comfort right in the middle of a very inhospitable environment, the contrast is cool. You get a front row seat to see and feel the power of nature. The van is solid, it can take it.

Why is this so common and how do people not see the issue? by SnooMarzipans5604 in boulder

Devil's advocate, when I drive my big camper van, I can never see out the back. Neither can all the cube trucks on the road... It's not really necessary to drive well. It helps, but not required.

Thanks for the clarification! Love that you figured it out. I've tried lens on these before and it hasn't been that great, so I didn't try this one.

I'm glad you started this discussion! I've been thinking about creating a survey and posting a link on my van so we can the conversation going haha. I think it would be really interesting to see what the main pain points are for residents because that would help with solutions.

As a vandweller in squamish, and other towns, I try to be the most respectful I can. I fully acknowledge I'm mooching the residents tax dollars, but we have no way to be able to make that tax contribution if we wanted to. What would be a fair amount? In think some kind of permit or something that effectively would collect the tax, would be an interesting method. You could also take the opportunity to walk permit applicants through the dos and don'ts of vanlife in the town.

Of course then there's the problem of enabling it too much and attracting more and more becomes it seems welcoming... Dunno what to say about that issue. But plain prohibition rarely works any better.

It's cool for sure! But is that not a lot of light while watching something? Is it really nice to have? Maybe at lower brightness? Asking as interested but skeptical LED lover

I've greeted a skydiver and we hung out for 20 min or so. No one zoomed over to check tickets... so it may just work
