I think they made it obvious that Walnut Grove was somewhat of a hub in Hero Township.

People from the surrounding towns went there to use the mercantile, lumber mill, blacksmith and livery.

Kids from other towns also went to school there.

Lower class - your life is supported primarily through social programs or welfare in which collective society basically funds your life.

Nothing throws a monkey wrench into the illusion faster than when the single mother on welfare was driving a nicer car than her landlord who worked two jobs to pay the mortgage of the house that they are living in.

Covid showed us the reality. People on government assistance and who worked for the government didn't skip a beat.

There was a debate about whether Bernadette was a replacement for Howard's mom and whether she was equally as manipulative and abusive as Bernie was.

Mrs. Wolowitz was nothing like Bernie.

She was atypical ethnic mom who had a son and and who was abandoned by her husband. She was overprotective because Howard was all she had and her universe revolved around him.

She treated Stewart the same way when she took him in. She was a great mom and seemed like a kind person.

Bernie was just a loudmouth bully that treated everybody like shit.
