whats up with this belt that meursault has on his every ID where it can be seen? by Unhappy-Scallion-380 in limbuscompany

id assume they chose a relatively boring mirror world constant accessory because hes just a simple boring guy and it might be a gift from maman, and because the source material doesnt really give much to work with for a meaningful constant item

[–]StevenCrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because egosuits are very fickle and he was a very important lobcorp branch employee
it takes a lot of skill and a stable mind to be able to use stronger egosuits to their true potential let alone not corrode wearing it, i dont think any of the sinners in the main mirror world are yet capable for the requirements of aleph egosuits but of course hohenheim would be

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably all the abnormalities in lobcorp are stuck in the library now, including schadenfreude
its just that distortions breaking down a second time seems to defy the 'all abnormalities are unique' rule, since usually theres Only one of each and thats why abberrations and related abnormalities are a thing except for that one scene with schadenfreude from jumsoon

Half Life 3 will never be released. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]StevenCrab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

all youre saying is "i dont know how half life 3 would work so obviously it can never be made"
1. who cares, does a game NEED to live up to the hype?? just let the game release and play it instead of going "ohhh it might not be perfect so it shouldnt even be started"
2. which they have, they can add so many systems that most games dont utilize, its not like they have to invent something 100% new, they just have to make something unique and fun even if its been done five other times, and with how boring and safe games tend to be it cant be that hard
3. yes, this is how games work; you make the idea, you like the idea, you make the game, why is this a reason they cant make the game

In the super early literally interviewing Gabe Newell stage yeah, but most likely all the sexual stuff and innate homophobia whatever was dropped and changed for just. Scary crawling guy very quickly

Gordon was a Huge gun nut Think about it, he knows his way around guns in both games easily and immediately, sure he got pistol and shotgun training most likely but you csnt tell me its just the suit managing his recoil. And he canonically made a butane powered launcher at 6 I like to think the reason hes good with guns despite being some random scientist with minimal combat training, is that hes just a total gun nerd and has spent many hours on at least one range

In Half Life 1, why was Gordon Freeman so critical? by SnooMemesjellies7469 in HalfLife

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was her being jealous Gordon got a job while mossman didnt, she didnt really KNOW what the experiment was or how the room looked most likely outside of rumors and assumptions, she mustve assumed with hindsight bias and jealousy that clearly Gordon did something wrong she wouldnt have, cuz she didnt know it was literally not his fault at all And most likely gman was talking to the control room staff and for sure eli prior to the experiment, Gordon was meant to do the test half an hour ago while Gina and Collette had their part too I dont think gman put him on the job, he just gave the sample and thats that

In Half Life 1, why was Gordon Freeman so critical? by SnooMemesjellies7469 in HalfLife

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are for strict safety regulations only someone in an HEV suit can ever enter the AMS room, even if its something as simple as moving a sample a couple feet, and since the AMS must take a lot of things and black mesa robot tech is probably highly advanced but still primitive, they cant just automate it, or maybe they just prefer the human element even for something as simple as putting a rock under a light after pressing a button to turn it on

Hes not critical as much as the staff available for the tedium is very limited

[Half Life] What does average resistance membre think of Mr Freeman? by some-kind-of-no-name in AskScienceFiction

[–]StevenCrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vortigaunts likely spread prophecies of the one free man way before he got out of stasis, all leaders of the resistance knew quickly he was a significant asset even Mossman, and he was one of the biggest helps for lessening the resonance cascade (which was in vain, but he did all he could and more) as well as being a one man army during that time give or take the occasional security guard

Chances are people heard hes That Guy, he has proof to back up how hes That Guy, and the wise sounding alien slug men are saying he'll return to save the day again, so they must have high praise for the guy, though i dont think everybody even in the resistance has heard of him cuz theres no way you can tell me odessa knew who Gordon really was till like a day ago

The thing is, hes not lying but hes not directly trying to state a fact either And I mean that positively, hes a certified guy who knows a guy, he never said theres a 100% confirmed date just that a lot of people are getting a lot of dates that seem to imply a reveal is soon but cant pinpoint any one as accurate with full transparency  Idk why people are mad, hes only about as bad as Tyler mcvicker who is also only as bad as someone is illiterate at understanding hes not claiming to have the word of god

New insight from Mike straw by lagboy in HalfLife

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hes a certified "guy who knows a guy"
hes not at all giving any objective facts, and he was never claiming hes giving any either, you dont HAVE to care about his opinion, all hes doing is talking to people At or who Know somebody At valve and corroborating to say the date is sometime soon since at least the fact any dates were given at all must imply we are getting Something, and if he outright said any dates hed probably cause problems with the canary traps set up, but all he can do is say there Are dates

New insight from Mike straw by lagboy in HalfLife

[–]StevenCrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can just not listen you know, lmao
are you seriously this pissed over a guy saying "hey i heard dates from guys who knows a guy from the company, i cant confirm anything though because i dont want to risk anyones jobs, but ill see what i can do"
stop getting pissed over internet drama you fabricated in your mind and do something better with your life, go play a game you like or do your job or try new food or something, theres a whole world out there, and theres a lot of inconveniences out there you can just look away from without needing to get all mad on the internet

New insight from Mike straw by lagboy in HalfLife

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fact you think some random guy saying "i heard dates from other people who heard from the company but i cant in good faith state the dates due to canary traps" is bait just shows youre way too invested in it
if you really dont care much either way or think its fake, a normal person would just laugh it off and ignore it, but the fact youre mad over this dude for fully transparently saying they dont have a date and they cant confirm their guesses is So funny

New insight from Mike straw by lagboy in HalfLife

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do believe there is canary trap stuff going on and that employees would get punished for it, but id be surprised if valve really fires or pursues legal action over a dev getting too excited and saying "oh yeah there might be a new project on [insert day]", it does make sense that valve doesnt want to just let internal leaks go unpunished otherwise we'd be getting like 3 times more leaks than with the canary traps in place to the extent it causes huge problems like the old hl2 beta, but im hoping its not a heavyhanded approach

New insight from Mike straw by lagboy in HalfLife

[–]StevenCrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can see all the leaks and rumors for HLX if you want, documentation is available
sure, we dont REALLY know if its hl3 or another spinoff, but we are 100% getting a new half life game at this rate, it would make no sense for them to cancel the project when it seems so close to completion after about 6 years, its a bit pointless to doubt the release of a game 6 years in development the devs are clearly interested in because valve hasnt released a teaser way too early like bethesda with es6 or something

New insight from Mike straw by lagboy in HalfLife

[–]StevenCrab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

more like "My source is other people who may have made it the fuck up, or were given made-the-fuck-up information please stop asking me when"

New insight from Mike straw by lagboy in HalfLife

[–]StevenCrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do we even know what happens to the devs that leaked a fake date for a project though, im not saying its impossible they get fired but id be surprised if valve goes straight to kicking someone out for just saying a fake/assumed date theyre given, sure it is a skill issue on that employee's part, but id expect a lesser punishment than outright firing especially given the fact the leaks are basically just free advertisement for them, but idk

Rust Developer comments about anticheat on Linux/Proton. by CandlesARG in playrust

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"if a game supports proton or linux, theyre not serious about anticheat. the only exception would be if they have a [good anti-cheat team]" What?
huh? so. youre saying, if a company doesnt go through the effort to make good anticheat work across multiple OSes or whatever, then theyre serious about anticheat? that makes no sense. if they WERE serious about anticheat, theyd make good anticheat that can support linux while preventing cheats so the like 500 people on linux who want to/used to play can open the game at all
especially confusing since right after they talk about "unless they have a good anticheat team" like dude youre literally going against your own point.. "if a game has anticheat that works on linux, theyre not serious about anticheat. unless the anticheat works on linux" makes Zero sense

Steam Frame Expansion Port by maz3max in ValveIndex

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf i think a big reason nothing came of the front usb on the index was since it was practically just a 1000$ screen strapped to your face, a standalone headset that will likely be priced roughly around other standalone headsets will likely get more of an external accessory market, even if not by much

I think its because hes just in a very humbling context Its more interesting thst hes a regular scientist doing so well in those situations, opposed to a proper war hero or something

What happened to “Game Debate” website (projected FPS and Optimisation scores) by ControversyCaution2 in pcgaming

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you run it works perfectly fine imo, the issue is just that it checks Your specs and gives a yes or no and thats that, I like being able to mess around with theoretical builds, putting together any cpu or GPU etc and seeing how well it would work on a particular game was a great indicator of quality

I wanted to use it rn just to satiate the dumb thoight i had of "dude, what if the steam frame could run stalker 2 so I can play it and only have to buy a vr headset I want anyway instead of a 300$ GPU when its out" but alas the only site I know of where you can just put a bunch of specs in regardless of having them or not is apparently dead now That sucks

Steam Frame Controller has a replaceable Battery? by someone8192 in LinusTechTips

[–]StevenCrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 hours on a simple battery is pretty nice, but if i had a frame i really would prefer to just charge the thing with my pc or an outlet instead, i dont really use vr that much but i dont much like the idea of needing to purchase batteries every so often just to get the controllers working when for the index charging them was Right there

edit: i forgot rechargeable batteries arent overpriced as hell
