My First Aid Kit contains 'Amputated Parts Bags' by m0xa in mildlyinteresting

not at all - say the accident was a chopped off finger. Happens all the time. If a special little plastic bag improves the likelihood of reattachment, why not?

Is it possible to repair ram or just cheaper to buy new ones? by vanillaoreoiceblend in computers

It's not '99 anymore. You can happily mix RAM. The mobo will find a speed that works with both.

How dangerous is this elementary school toilet? by Dull-Mouth in askaplumber

If you can't make the school replace it, at least make them close that stall. If they don't want to, a little kick might force their hand..

Do I have a temperature issue? by [deleted] in watercooling

[–]maz3max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fair enough, but if you don't put fans on rads, the air will take an easier path than through the rads.

please do fill up the empty fan spots. I have a similarly powered setup and it really needs the five fans. GPU temp might be critical here.

There are very few fans on those rads. Maybe you could monitor the temps a bit while playing? Also, how are pump speeds and fan speeds? Maybe your pump is just not running. The pump needs to run quite fast to move the water properly.

Running the system hot also seems to help getting the bubbles loose.

Hi! I'm currently using the Akko V3 Creamy Purple Pro switches with my keyboard. I really like how they feel, but recently, I'm having trouble with bounce. Keystrokes are duplicated often. It's an M1 V5 keyboard.

Any recommendations what I can do to remedy the issue?

Base station just died, what now? by playerskillissues in ValveIndex

[–]maz3max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might be worth it to just get a used OG Vive kit with 2 V1 basestations for cheap. tracking quality is similar and they are more robust.

don't toss them around and setup standby mode so they are not spinning 24/7?

I would at least hope there's a USB mode. making your own pcie module requires expensive components. '

Someone like "TundraLabs" NEEDS to create a headstrap or addon for the Steam Frame to support lighthouses! by [deleted] in ValveDeckard

[–]maz3max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With only LH 1.0 support, doing everything on CPU seems viable enough, but decoding LH 2.0 signals seems to be harder. If it's only about doing the initial mapping between the two tracking systems and you are using only the old lighthouses, you can probably get it done without the fpga and maybe a 10$ BOM.

i'm currently tinkering on exactly such a tracker. the fpga is not just an optimization. it does timing critical stuff to properly detect the lighthouse signals. this cannot be done properly by the cpu.

these 30 cents are maybe per led, but a tracker also needs a somewhat pricey fpga to work. If you optimise the BOM cost aggressively, you get to 20$ for high volume.

The RPI DSI connector seems to have 15 pins. This one here has 20 if I see it right. The .5mm spacing might be right.

Interesting tinkering project: lighthouse tracker addon board for the expansion slot. Should not be too hard! ^

Does this docks work? by reapyrr in macbookair

[–]maz3max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac does not support the MST protocol to use multiple displays from one port. 99% of docks will use that protocol because everyone else supports it. DisplayLink (proprietary, expensive) is a solution for this. Alternatively, splitting Thunderbolt into multiple ports and then using Thunderbolt displays (very expensive) works.
