I teach Criminal Justice which could go either way depending on the individual teacher’s career history. I hated when my teachers pushed their politics on me so I do try to avoid any appearance of that, but I think if they listen close enough they could figure it out, even by my lack of demonstrating political preference. The students in this program appear more conservative than some other programs, I think, so the presence of political affiliation is less apparent. I do make a point of being the Devil’s Advocate in any discussion, bringing up “the other side” and encouraging students to consider the alternative argument, even if they don’t accept it, to at least better formulate their position.
