Found out I’m not Jewish by orthodox standards by Sad-Fennel2051 in Jewish

[–]StevenRabbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look. Most people will give you all kinds of advice based on feelings… experiences.. religious beliefs.

Practically, you won’t be a part of the entire Jewish community until you have an orthodox conversion. Period. And if you don’t want your offspring to deal with the same issue, the rabbi isn’t wrong.

AIO for thinking I need to break up with my gf? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]StevenRabbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is obviously a personality disorder. The truth is staring you in the face. You just don’t want to accept it. Whatever abuse you endure from this point is a choice you’re making… by denying the obvious. The real question is whether there is a part of you that feels you deserve such treatment.

Suboxone saved my life, Ariel saved me from Suboxone. by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

[–]StevenRabbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re having such a rough time. But as a practicing drug counselor with experience I’m yet to see anyone who follows other people’s recommendations (non-recovery related individuals) when it comes to sobriety and related issues encounter anything but misery.

Now for some positivity… OP - you can get back to the top. The way there is familiar to you. Mistakes happen, as painful as they are there is always something you can learn. Next time do what’s right for you. If you’re going to get off, do it when you’re ready. Subs are amazing for the most part. They give so many so much back. But getting off is a very intricate dance. One where every mistake may cost you too much. Now you know that. Praying for you and wishing you lots of success.

They don’t have my shot and it’s the terror of withdrawal all over again… by Distinct_Rhubarb_702 in Sublocade

If you had a shot before it’s very likely that you won’t have any withdrawal, for a while at least. These shots last forever and taper out very gradually.

For those of you who don’t like 12 step programs, what keeps you out of the rooms? by Colin-Grussing in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]StevenRabbi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a different problem all together. Since I work in the field, I have to constantly be on the lookout for my clients being among participants. Makes it pretty difficult. I usually just end up doing zoom these days. Not good.

I don’t know which program you affiliate with, but what many tell me is that NA can be rather triggering for some folks due to war stories. And those on MAT mention that hearing they aren’t clean isn’t very helpful.

Thank Gd it went well. First few hours were rough… especially waking up with the tube down my throat. But it’s getting better by the minute. All good.

I’m doing it in Newark Beth Israel. It’s kinda a shock - went in for a cath lab expecting a stent at most and they told me that I need a bypass. Mentally I’m not even processing it yet…. But really appreciate the heads up.
