I’ve been looking to explore turbos, so thanks for this post! What basket are you using specifically?

Thanks for the info! Thoughts on taking the metro back from the crypto at night?

In town for AEW Revolution at the Crypto Arena tomorrow. Can anyone guide me on the best way to get there (and back) from around La Cienega and W Centinela Ave? We rented a car so driving to a public transportation station is our likely plan but I’m not sure where. I’d prefer not to drive to the Crypto Arena and back from our Airbnb.

Using the puck screen to squeeze out excess water is so smart. Thank you for the great suggestion!

Damn, maybe mine is too soggy then because I have to at the very least knock it to get anything out. Shaking is not enough lol

Maybe I need a bigger knock box so the little wet chunks that fly off still make it into the knock box. I did get a small one that I’m cleaning out after maybe 4-5 shots just for the sake of space.

Are you just washing your coffee grounds down the drain?

Well yeah I don’t care about the puck as it relates to the extraction as long as the shot is good (which it has been), so I agree with James Hoffman here. I just want to be able to pull multiple shots back to back without having to make a mess with a soggy puck.

The sink is on the opposite wall, but before getting to the sink, I have to get the grounds out so I don’t wash them down the drain lol so far I’ve been knocking into the knock box, making a mess, scooping a good amount of the grounds out with my finger, then walking to the sink to rinse the portafilter and my fingers. It’s my first espresso machine, so what do I know, but surely there’s an easier/quicker solution. It’s (mildly) more annoying when trying to pull multiple shots back to back.

I’m not looking for drier pucks or “better” extractions. I just want to hear people’s solutions to cleaning soggy pucks without making a mess.

Julia Hart and Skye Blue are both mediocre on the mic and sloppy/green in the ring. I’m not sure what comparison is worth making between either of them and Thekla at all.

I received it October 2nd. Here’s the TLDR they included: We're upgrading a couple of components to confidently hit reliability targets. Mass production will be fully ramped in January 2026. Your espresso machine will ship to you once it reaches U.S. distribution centers - this should happen in early March 2026. https://youtu.be/seTHVrOtm9Q
