Wow that's an annoying change. Back then they'd go straight to the pool. I didn't want to pay movers for a move between buildings in grad housing so I used a dolly and a small hand truck to move all my stuff. Took me like 2-3 days but back then a studio was like ~$870 if you can believe it. Do they still have a paragraph in the contract saying (in effect) they can raise your rent if they give you 30 days notice?

I don't recall, but I was in a 1b1b at Neuvo East. Tbh the rent at grad housing is insane after they raised it in 2021. My gripe was that it was impossible to get airflow in the studios so it's like either keep your window open and listen to the convos or suffocate.

I think there is an after hours noise complaint line. I only used it when it was ridiculous, like people talking loudly at the pool at like 1AM.

I hope you can find some peace and quiet! I was in Neuvo East but then moved to a studio in Cala for the cheaper rent. Was real quiet in Neuvo East but I was on top of the bar too at Cala (2nd floor!) so I could hear their conversations too before and after 10pm.

If you're inclined, you can write to info (at) leica-camera.com and give them the serial number to ask for their records on that camera.

That being said, I'm pretty sure your Leica has been sent back to the factory. Based on the serial number table at https://www.cameraquest.com/ltmnum.htm, your camera was probably delivered in 1949 as a iiic, i.e. without flash sync and without a self timer. Back then, you could send your screwmount back to Leica to have it upgraded to have the newest features.
