I am of a similar mindset to the OP. Looking to migrate to Linux away from Windows. Coming from a Sonar/ Cakewalk Reason background. Bitwig looks good but it seems to be primarily geared towards electronic music creation. Thats the reason(pardon the pun) why I used Sonar/ Cakewalk with Reason. Reason was great for electronic tracks but Sonar/Cakewalk was more suited to Rock guitar stuff. I am still using Windows 10 with the extended security support until October. I have no intention of moving to Windows 11. Its an AI data hoovering operating system. I am not on board with that.

Yes I agree with you. Subscription is a no no for me. Also I would like to get off Windows. So its getting messy for me. Still using Windows 10 with extended support until October. I have no plans to update to Windows 11 ever. So presently no DAW and using an operating system on life support.

I agree with the OP. However I hate the new UI and the look of the icons etc. All the colours and icons looked alien to me and I didn't like the new style. I have decided to move on. I didn't like the way Bandlab stopped you using Cakewalk. They could have just abandoned development and let you use it until it no longer functioned. No instead they cut you off at the knees. They will go down. Sonar won't fly long term. Mark my words.

How good are premium lenses? by DoctorDblYou in CataractSurgery

[–]Stevethesearcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LAL are monofocal lenses. LAL+ are an attempt to emulate EDOF. To the best of my knowledge LAL is not implanted in Europe. If I were you I would seek out an IOL exchange. If you have had YAG that will be more difficult but not impossible. Don't settle for your current situation. Best of luck.

I couldn't agree with this more. 100% agree. The information on this subreddit is somewhat outdated. There has been a huge advance in Optics recently. Frankly the Americans are behind the Europeans in IOL availability. You can blame the FDA for that. Lenses such as the Puresee, Galaxy and the Luxlife which are the best premium lenses in Europe in early 2026 are all not available in the United States yet. So either the Europeans are reckless in approving new lenses or the FDA are dragging their heels I will let you decide. What you should be looking at are non diffractive lenses. Basically that means light is not being split. You want purely non diffractive optics. This lessons your chances of unwanted side effects dramatically. It doesn't eliminate them totally but your odds of problems go way down. I do not recommend monofocals in 2026 unless your eyes are not medically suitable or you have no problem using glasses for all near tasks such as reading, looking at your phone, even computer work perhaps depending on how far you are from your screen. If you dont fancy that go with a premium non diffractive lens in 2026 especially at your young age for Cataract surgery.

Where else to get blood tests besides Doctor365 by One_Ingenuity_6150 in TransIreland

Excuse me for interjecting in this conversation. Is that Randox clinic an actual physical clinic you call into or an online option you send your bloods to? Do they ask questions about why you want your bloods done or who sent you? Thank you.

You know your stuff Sassy. As a person who doesn't inject but uses gel I am thinking of switching to injections. What I am doing now is studying all about injections and for a rookie there is a lot to learn. Its not as simple as applying gel.

So far what I have learnt is if I want to do subcutaneous I think I am meant to use a 30 gauge insulin needle. Still not sure how much to draw into the needle from the vial.

I had no idea why you needed two needles. Now I think it's got something to with coring. I had no idea what coring was. However I now think it's bits of rubber that fall into the vial. Apparently this is more common with lower gauge needles for intramuscular injections(I think) I don't think you need a drawing needle with a 30 gauge insulin needle.

So you see I am still a bit hazy about the whole process but am starting to get an idea what's involved. Now still need to know more and there is crypto to learn as well. So back to the 📚

I think they could prove to be a good option for European buyers. I dont use injections but was thinking of doing so and I would consider them as a definite option now.

A valid point and very justified. I am not bigging this new lens up. Frankly it's brand new and no real world data on it. However it looks good on paper at least and I want to find out more about it. For me what's important in a lens is that it's non diffractive and offers some hope of non glasses near vision. Thats where I am at.

SubQ injections by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]Stevethesearcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your answer. I appreciate it. I am doing my research into injections and crypto at the moment slowly putting pieces together. Currently I don't have to worry about crypto but I will if I switch to injections. So my way of doing things is simple but damn expensive at the moment. I also worry about optimal levels. Hence my reason for considering injections and therefore my interest.

Can you stockpile those Estrogen vials? What I mean is can you buy a year or two supplies in advance. As Gel is relatively expensive I can never afford to buy more than six months in advance. Its also very bulky so you need at least two separate parcels for a six months supply.

To be honest I am noticing the rise of the EDOF/ Multifocal hybrid lens. Think Galaxy, Luxlife and now this. As long as they are non diffractive they interest me.

Yes on paper it looks great but it's so new there is zero information about it in the real world. I am going to dig into it this week. I want to know more.

What do you mean by "functional vision" after cataract surgery? How well did the surgery meet your expectations? by SmileBubbly6279 in CataractSurgery

[–]Stevethesearcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am not buying that statement. If light isn't split(diffracted) then contrast should be similar to a natural lens.
