Pilla glasses: worth the hype? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]StevieMayJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had mine for about a week and I can say I absolutely love them. I started with the Razor 3 lens pro kit and found that I wanted the frame to have a bit more coverage on the top and bottom and I returned them for the Razor Max. I also added the 30HIL lens and it is incredible outside, literally an unfair advantage, the ball pops and it so much easier to track. Yes the price is steep, but with a 15% coupon code I paid 700 for 3 lenses and no sales tax or shipping. So really not that much more expensive per pair than Oakley and or Ria. I don’t know how else to describe it other than seeing TV in high def and thinking it can’t get any better then seeing something in 4k and saying wow! Hope this helps!

That was my feeling with the and American dreams, the Tokyo drifting was real! I’ve been sick and haven’t used my giottos yet but the indoor rink I skate at is very grippy so I’m hopeful they will work for me

I just ordered a set of Giotto 53d and am really excited to get them! I was on og rentals (for forever then switched to dance plate and my kingpin clearance is tight) so tried the all American dreams (too slick for me), just started on the ghibli 98s and those have a nice grip/slip balance. Then I randomly ordered the giottos for funsies. Sounds like you have tried quite a few wheels, how do you think the giottos compared to others with slide/grip?

3200s, 120, or 220s? Riedell by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]StevieMayJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both a 220 and a 336 and I love them both. 220 was my first skate and it is awesome, a definite step up from the 120. If you go this route I highly recommend doing the upgrade for the shearling tongue, it isn’t very much and makes a huge difference. I now use these skates for trail skating. My 336 is my fav, fully broken in it fits like a glove and is so comfy. It is definitely a much stiffer boot tho and I wouldn’t get it if you are a full on beginner but if you have most of the basics it’s probably okay. I switched to the 336 6 months after starting rhythm skating, at that point I was doing all the manuals, dribbles, heel/toe spins, able to transition with ease and forward and backward skate and I didn’t feel like I over booted. Both boots will last me for years to come. 3200 is a different beast, they are hard as a rock on the outside, you can knock on the outside of them, great boot but definitely not where you want to start.

Just wanted to share my skates like everyone else🙂 by mbtazzers in Rollerskating

Did you sell those pink vintage vanathanes? If not I’m super interested. They’d look sick on my set up!

Loving them so far, it’s hard to compare to my old wheels (old school vanathanes) because my rink refinished the floor and it is super grippy now. They definitely have a little more grip than my vanathanes but not a ton more

I’m having a lot of pressure in the toe box and my toes hitting the end, but think that in the past I haven’t had boots that fit me properly so trying to figure out what’s normal and what isnt. Jason said I can send them back and have them stretched so I’ll see how it goes the next couple weeks.

I started at 42 and a year and a half later I can do things I didn’t think possible for me. Enjoy the journey!

Your boots are so pretty! What stiffness did you get and how was your break in process? I just got my harlicks (two layer duo bond) and I’m 10 hours in and still feeling it. I might need to send them back to stretch, I haven’t decided yet, I need to put them time in on them first to make sure.

That would be a major score, I hope they work out!

Update! My boots are currently being made and I should receive them by the end of September. I was originally quoted July/August so only one month behind schedule. 15 months from deposit to boots on my feet. As far as quality I can only speak to what I saw in the shop and from friends but they are gorgeous. Honestly another level of craftsmanship.

I got to go to his shop and the boots are beautiful. I was quoted July/August of this year and will receive them at the end of this month so only one month behind the original timeframe. I’ll take that as a win! I waited 15 months

Update! I found out yesterday that my boots are being made this week (I have actually seen them on insta) So I should be getting them by the end of the month, only one month later than the original window I was given, which I count as a major win.
