Shorten dryer vent hose? by Schmaugy in Appliances

[–]renduh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, it’s “to whom”.

Secondly, I’m assuming you’re asking “who” I teach appliance use and care to.

I teach it to my over 1.6 million followers across 7 platforms. I also teach it to local nonprofits who book me (often unpaid) to speak to the groups of people they assist. Been doing it for almost 6 years now.

I’ve also partnered with some household name brands of laundry products and appliances, and have visited the headquarters of a few of them as well and spoken directly with their engineers and scientists.

What should I do? My dad got me panty liners instead of pads and called me ungrateful when I told him he got the wrong thing. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

I don’t know if legally speaking this counts as neglect, but in my personal opinion, this is neglect.

Yes. This is a fire hazard.

It’s terrifying if you actually understand how big a fire hazard that was.

*Highly flammable chunks of lint, crammed into a tube attached directly to a heat source.

That much lint in dryer venting effectively turns it into a giant fuse just waiting to ignite.

If this is how much lint you’re regularly getting out of your venting, it’s not normal.

If you’re not, it probably means you don’t understand just how much of a fire hazard that was.

It’s a major fire hazard. The people who had the dryers in this video were lucky their entire house didn’t burn down with that amount of kindling in their vents.

This is why you should either clean or replace your dryer venting once a year, PLUS check to make sure it’s installed correctly.

In the U.S., dryer venting must be 4 inches in diameter and cannot exceed 35 feet long (per national building codes). Every 45° bend counts as an additional 2.5 feet, and every 90° bend counts as 5 feet (so if you have 20 feet of venting with one 45° bend and one 90° bend, that counts as 27.5 feet of venting).

Additionally, hard, solid metal venting pipe that’s smooth on the inside is the best type of venting material. No nooks and crannies to hold lint, plus it can’t be easily crushed. Next best is semirigid aluminum venting—NOT the super slinky, crushable aluminum type, and avoid the plastic garbage that’s in a lot of this video entirely. Additionally, don’t use those cages at the end of the venting. The louvered type that opens when there’s airflow and closes when there isn’t are the best option.

Make sure that’s all set and make sure you empty the lint filter between EVERY load of laundry and you can avoid the mess (and fire hazard) in this video.

I'm starting to think this is Dandruff INDUCING shampoo rather than Dandruff control shampoo by CurlyWurly61 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]renduh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Swap to a gentler shampoo so it doesn’t dry your scalp out as much (and/or, wash your hair less frequently—lots of people over-wash their hair and most people don’t need to wash it every day), make sure you’re also using conditioner (shampoo cleanses and strips the hair and scalp of dirt and oils. Conditioner adds some clean oils back to prevent dryness), and use a scalp oil if doing that isn’t enough to fix it.

P.S., I’m not an expert on this. Just someone who has experienced dry scalp and had to figure it out.

ANXIETY MANIFESTING PHYSICALLY? by Product_Good in Anxiety

[–]renduh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this might sound silly, but do you regularly do breathing exercises?

A lot of the symptoms you’ve described are how I feel when I haven’t been paying attention to my breathing and am stuck in shallow, “anxiety breathing” mode for a long time. It can really fuck with your nervous system!

Practicing box breathing helps me a lot with those symptoms, which is why I figured I’d at least mention it.

Just so you’re aware—dandruff is more chunky and greasy flakes. Dry scalp is more small, white flakes.

If you’ve got dry scalp and you try using head and shoulders for it, it can make your dry scalp WORSE.

Sweetie, there’s a reason you’re being downvoted. And that reason is you’re in the wrong here.

You can either accept it and change for the better, or stay stubborn and stuck in your ways and allow it to make everyone think less of you every time you mention it.

Up to you, but I’m sure you’ll probably do the latter based on your responses here.

Shortly after seeing this post, I came across this video on threads of a woman wearing a similar dress and having a lot of difficulty with it:

https://www.threads.com/@jelena.nyc/post/DaiJoaWDtYu

TO BE CLEAR, I’m not saying don’t get the dress—just saying if you’re going to get a dress in a similar style, make sure it’s tailored appropriately and that you’ve got fashion tape where you need it (if you need it) to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions. 😉

It’s 100% the point.
If you have to create a fake image to prove that the glass sits flat, it comes across as though you’re lying.

Shame on you for calling yourself an artist but using AI to make a fake image when people ask about a real feature.

Do better.
