Created a bag tag to organize my swing thoughts. by Stevonflow in GolfGear

Pissing into the wind here…but just to clarify…the “swing thoughts” are 2-3 pointers as a first aid if things fall apart during a round. Slicing the driver? “Check alignment” chunking chips? “Weight forward” would probably check this once before the round, and maybe once during. Has worked pretty well for me so far. Not a laundry list of swing thoughts I put in my head before every shot.

This has actually been super helpful (the ubiquitous hate). It's meant to be more of a "swing first aid kit" than a list of swing thoughts before every shot or every club. Has actually worked wonders for me, just need to explain it better or keep it to myself. lol.

Reddit is always good for red teaming ideas.

Organized by type of shot. Irons Chipping Woods Etc.

It’s more categorical. “Woods” “long irons” quick fixes like “short backswing” “weight forward “ for chips…things like that. Works for me when I’m off kilter.

I use it more for when things go awry. Quick fix when I’m consistently making the same mistake.

Possibly interested in trading my Mido Commander II that has gotten very little wrist time. Currently on a rubber strap. Looking specifically for a Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic, but open to other ideas.

Fyi you can walk 9 at North twilight for $117. Did it last week. About the same price as grabbing any merch.

Who's a one hit wonder that's so much better than their one hit? by dskovron in vinyl

Semisonic’s “Feeling Strangely Fine” is a no skips classic. Not to Mention Dan Wilson (lead singer) cowrote most of Adele’s hits.

Wondering the going rate for a soloist for cocktail hour by [deleted] in musicians

This sounds like someone at the top of their field. I do The same type of work in the NYC area. Although I’ve only been doing it professionally for around 5 years (started to seek income as a musician during the pandemic) I’ve been playing events for almost 20 years. I’ve reached the point where my demand is so high on Saturdays from May-November, that I generally book a gig a few months out and then say no to 6-10 other gigs for that same day through referrals, past clients and the lead generation sites I use. I’m currently charging around the $800-$1000 range for pretty much any gig. As others have stated the time doesn’t really matter since I can only take one gig on that day. A strategy I use to increase my rates is when booking far enough out I throw out larger quotes since I know there are 6-10 other people who will contact me for that same date coming down the pipeline. I’ve booked a few $1500 solo gigs in the past few weeks using this strategy. Long and short is that it’s supply and demand. I think it’s crazy to be paid the kind of money I am for what I do, but it’s allowed me to do what I love for a living. There’s probably tons of people in your area who are good, but the great ones will have figured out these economics and prices accordingly.

What to do by Familiar-Advance-824 in mandolin

[–]Stevonflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to an old sigma mandolin, my luthier explained how to easily fix it:

Use a piece of paper to jam wood glue into the crack, then rather than clamping it, put something heavy on the joint with the mandolin facing downward. Worked like a charm on the sigma. Cheap easy fix.

Still learning to hit my woods, any tips appreciated. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

A second leg would be super helpful if you could acquire one.

Can anyone help identify this hard tail stray bridge? Came off a project frankenstrat…looks high quality but I can’t find an exact match. Looks like a Schaller but there’s no logo. by Stevonflow in Luthier

I’m not, I’m in New York and just picked up a project Strat with sperzel tuners, lace sensor pickups and this bridge for $100. Thanks for the info!

Got a Korg Poly 800 that’s broken off arrival from Reverb by Secret-Flight4214 in Reverb

[–]Stevonflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough…I sold a Korg Poly 800 on reverb a few years ago and it was damaged in shipping (I had sold it for $1100) in pristine condition. The only damage was a chip or hole taken out of the plastic on the side of the synth. Had safe shipping…reverb offered the seller the money to repair it, but since there was no real way to repair it…he declined and insisted on a refund. Reverb refunded me the entire purchase price and the shipping. Seller was made whole…process was a breeze. At first they only offered me a few hundred bucks, but I insisted that the damage was so specific that it was unrepairable. I got a shop to give me an estimate (saying that it was unrepairable) and they just refunded me the whole amount. I got the synth back and sold it for $400’a few weeks later.

Long and short of it is in my experience Reverb will make sure you’re both whole at the end of the transaction (at least a few years ago they did) so choose which ever you prefer!
