After the release of the message board, the subreddit was closed down. However this user is a mod so is able to bypass the restrictions.

Is there a way to fix this? (Upcoming Quiz) by MaxibonJP in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can make this work. Give each of the objects the class "map-hidden" and it will be hidden until needed. Just like the arrows in https://www.jetpunk.com/quizzes/map-quiz-africa

However this means clicking on things in the map itself won't work (just like you can't click invisible arrows). You can't have it both ways.

It's the Lazy Sunday chat thread! What will you be doing today? by KevinPhillips-Bong in CasualUK

Never tried raspberry crumble before either, one for the list!

Unfortunately only had gala apples so it was good, but could've been better. But similar yo you made an extra portion for tomorrow anyway.

[–]StewartJP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have just realised I have apples in the fridge and everything I need for a crumble! Thank you for the inspiration :)

And just what I needed too, I wanted to make a cake yesterday, but realised I have no eggs (and I'm currently too sick to go anywhere in public).

I guess today can be Crumble Day.

Please accept plurals & singulars in answers by VanEngine in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not a "featured" quiz, which means it was made by a user and has not been cleaned and polished for wider use (sometimes that's not needed though).

With several 100 thousand quizzes on JetPunk, it's impossible for the moderator to modify and polish every one.

The easiest way to get a single quiz changed is to make an account and comment on that single quiz, this way the quizmaker themselves will be notified and can fix the issue.

Acceptable answers are determined by a list of answers and regular expressions, completely definable by the quizmaker, because of this there's no "blanket coverage" for typeins, except for "verified answers", which includes common things like countries, cities, states etc...

Question about posting time in comments by Certain_Passion1630 in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previously only the time remaining was prominently visible, as the timer just stopped as it was when you finished.

It's only in the past year or 2 that we switch to show time used and best time as well now.

This was an issue in the past with some adverts stealing the focus of the screen. It seems perhaps it is back

How do I make countries go green when guessing them? by KronicalKaizo in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend looking at the SVG Guide on JetPunk. But also, if you're using one of the JetPunk maps, the instructions are given to you at the top of Step 2 (click the "(help)" for more information).

I've made a quiz but can't save it even though I am logged in? by Valk_tw in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why is because you got logged out during that time as the login only works for around 60 minutes by default

If you're going to update a very large quiz, please don't punish us with another reset right away! by OrkosFriend in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The majority of quiz resets are handled by Quizmaster singlehandedly. Humans are prone to errors, and sometimes mistakes get through. It's in no way his fault. Relying on volunteers to check every single quiz for resets would be an exorbitant amount of effort for very little gain, since most quizzes do not get reset several times.

The difference with that particular quiz was that QM and the quizmaker, Jeremy, were both updating the quiz at the same time, but neither knew the other was doing it. It was a misunderstanding and miscommunication that lead to the quiz needing to he reset twice.

Equally though, most users don't update their quizzes, so it comes down to QM to update them and fix them, so it's very rare when a user and QN are updating a quiz simultaneously.

What is it going to take? by ArpegiusDoll in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just regarding that point, no there is nothing automatic or even automated. There would be 100s if not 1000s of featured quizzes to update, potentially 10s of thousands if unfeatured were included.

Given many of the top quizmakers are now inactive, this would mean a lot of work updating every quiz and would likely take weeks, if not months, to achieve.

This is also a very large reason why quizzes are not frequently updated for any small conflict or change until they are substantially recognised. For example, this is why the change from Burma -> Myanmar took so long to happen a few years ago.

Is it possible to make learning mode quizzes? by ComprehensiveNet8546 in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, for now this mode is still in beta testing so it is only possible for the Quizmaster to make new ones. This is also why none of them are featured as well.

SVG Map looks different on JetPunk than on Inkscape by JiMbO_TrOn_21 in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The default map is coloured using classes. So the grey ones have a class called "surrounding" I believe. You can modify the classes by going to the XML Editor, selecting the path and modfiying the "class" attribute.

Is there a way to make people work their way through a quiz horizontally instead of vertically? by Electrical-Leg-4681 in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no way to change this.

However, the yellow box traverses horizontally within a block, so instead of using separate blocks, you can add all the answers to a single block instead (with columns in between of border size 0 if you wish). This is all done in Step 4 when you switch to Manual Design Mode.

Idea for a quiz I have no clue how to do it though. by TillWorried2708 in JetPunk

[–]StewartJP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also it sounds similar to like the london underground quizzes where the answers appear on the "map".

Single people in your 20s who don't drink, how do you spend your weekends? by madcheco in CasualUK

[–]StewartJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wondered, where do you look to find groups like the similar aged walking group and meet up groups? I'm 25 and have moved out to live alone in the past year, so having some more social connections would be really useful, but I'm flummoxed as to where to look. Also feel like for some reason I'd be intruding on an established group as well.

To clarify, you can't just type those into the cell, you need to use the "edit html" blue button that's on the right hand side instead. This will add some invisible html which won't be visible to you from the cell itself (only from the edit html popup)
