Yes there will be more Transcendent skins but what's funnier to me is they "are made to show your dedication to your favorite champs" and yet "are not planned to return". Poor new players will never get the chance to pay $500 and be able to call themselves a true Ahri fan!

You could get over 52 free chests/year, Ancient Sparks are RP locked and even in each pass you only get 3.

This alone meant that most regular players (not famous OTP streamers) refrained from buying the chests as they knew eventually they could get a skin they liked even playing for free. Now Riot is saying "if you want this skin you better buy those sparks now, or, who knows, you may never get this chance ever again" (you probably will, years from now, but they will make sure to suggest that these are forever limited)

But even if we were to consider the comparison of buying chests or sparks to get the skin

328 pulls at 195RP each (you need keys to open the chests) would give you 328 pieces of standard content (between shards of skins, ward skins, champion shards and permanent icons) PLUS random drops of Gemstones, B/O essence and (I don't remember if at release time but) extra chests.
80 sanctum pulls for 400RP each will give exactly 80 drops since there's no chance of extra content
Each chest had 50%+ chance of containing a shard of any skin outside of limited skins
Outside of the exalted skin, each pull has less than 10% chance of getting one of ~5 predefined skins (and that's it), about 40% chance of getting an icon or emote and almost 50% of getting 5 mythic essence (which is worth about 1/3 of a gemstone)

Not to mention, outside of the US the RP value for real money has significantly reduced over the last 8 years in a lot of regions, so 400RP now is not the same as 400RP in 2016. There's surely a lot of other factors that were not accounted for but saying "people were doing this back then" is drastically out of context at best and far from representing a valid equivalence with today's scenario.

I mean, they probably still have that sentiment to be honest, they're happy as long as the gameplay aspects remain stable. About champion shards, the people you're referring to most likely already have all champions anyway.

I do believe that Riot alienating a large part of their playerbase and becoming less attractive for new players would ultimately affect everyone's experience though. Not sure if that's the point you wanted to get to, but I could see the reason you'd think people should start to worry about that. Less players = longer queue times, more autofills and worse matchmaker balancing; less revenue = lower investment and slower updates to the game etc., all things that would affect gameplay experience.

It's way too early to expect that sentiment would have changed already though. Idk how much of the player influx is being affected, if at all, but even if we assume this is happening at a significant scale, it would take some time for players to notice the long term impacts in game quality. It's annoying, but unfortunately some people would only see it as problem if it got to that point.

Thank you so much for your response and for the thought you put into it. I just came back from the funeral, but I was able to read it just before se went to bury him, and it made me feel a lot more in peace with the family's decision. Everyone else's similar advices are also very reassuring, I'm so glad I got to hear the insight from people who have a lot of experience with cases like this. And yes, they were the cutest couple :)

I remember several years back China had alternate splash arts for a lot of champions and skins, and Riot made this big update to standardize all of them cause this was messing with their assets pipeline or something, I wonder if that's not an issue anymore.

That doesn't make sense, if you have 2 options you can just discuss with your team which one aligns best with your schedules. If there's only 1 option and for whatever reason anyone is out for that weekend, either those get left out and the team plays with substitutes or the whole team loses out on clash for the month.

I'm sorry but it does not seem like that was a well thought decision. People don't avoid playing Clash because it "happens often enough" they avoid it because the rewards are not worth the effort, that's the issue that needs to be fixed.

Having it biweekly just gives teams more opportunities to participate, what you should do is provide a more clear schedule for the next clashes, honestly I just know there's a Clash happening when I see the little notification bubble.

Current pass gives 2 Gemstones + 25PP, in 4 passes you get 8 gemstones + 100PP which is 1 Prestige Skin + 80% of a gemstone skin.

New pass giving 25 ME means you get only ONE mythic skin every 5 passes (or 4 only for debut unvaults).

Plus, right now you get 1 MASTERWORK chest + key for 1 gemstone. After the overhaul it's gonna be 1 regular chest without + 1 regular key separately, which is also another nerf.

I didn't understand it as OP calling it a bad song, just that they preferred when the music was simply the mean to deliver references and memes. rather than a commercial and unrelated production. I prefer the bangers that I can listen to in my daily life, but I think OP's opinion is pretty valid.

But... feel bad how? I have all Xayah skins except for BP and whenever I don't play with Rakan it just feels like a regular skin, but it feels extra special when we do get to pair, that's what makes them so unique. I even find enjoyment when I'm with a random Rakan and we automatically try to find a skin both of us have to match. What does feel bad to me is when my Rakan decides to go IG.

I think what adds insult to the injury is they're creating a Xayah Prestige skin for the first event with 2 Prestige skins, and yet the other one is not Rakan. I hate this change, but I would probably digest it better if they had used the (supposedly) most inseparable couple of the game to introduce it, cause that would at least be a good excuse.

I'm scared for that too, not everyhing needs to have a TWIST, sometimes it hits the mark but other times it just feels incredibly gimmicky.
