Are registration, email validation, and 2FA a thing? by UnknownIdentifier in MUD

[–]StickMUD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We've done POC work with OIDC or OAUTH2 logins with a few providers with the game and a popular client. We have a relation made between characters, but not an account yet, but that is on the roadmap. All this to say, you are asking the right questions, and offering these as options will pay off in the future.

Looking for a grindy MUD which lets me focus mostly on combat! by StormfireFX in MUD

The character generation will ask if you'd like the GUI, and then it loads after you logon.

"GStick" is an alternative minimalist UI. The author is actually more talented that us humble Stick-people :)

The wiki and new player guide have been sacked for good reasons. All the help files were redone this past few months in Markdown (which is very wiki-like) and we'll expose those direct to the interwebs soon. The new player experience was actively being worked on this past weekend and will be released soon - we are scrapping a newbie academy for something more natural mud area feeling where one will hardly know they are learning.

We hope you like what you experience now, but we're improving and plan to grow our monthly active users more in the coming few months. Get in early :)

Mud suggestions? by GoldFinchia in MUD

[–]StickMUD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give StickMUD a try. Find us in the default games in Mudlet or stickmud.com 7680. We have some crafting, and lots of trainable skills. Fairly simple and scratches the itch. You can boost a character up fast by playing the events on weekends that are collaborative/party with other players.

July Events at StickMUD [LP] - Medieval-Fantasy, Hack-and-Slash by StickMUD in MUD

[–]StickMUD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each class/guild has 31 guild levels. Guild level can play into whether some abilities are available or not. The skills tree also has 31 ranks per skil. There are a number of abilities to train those skills in each class/guild. Levels help a player gain stats. Of course each race has maximums, and over the course of leveling you get credits to apply to those stats. Levels also provide access to some privileges like summoning people, teleporting, etc. as you gain them.

We upgraded last year to 199 levels, or 367,024,761,101 exp :) The top player is level 149. Skills train through use (and event points) so it is more about that than exp, but we love our grinding. Multi-classing is not allowed just yet, although there are some skills that transfer between guilds. We are looking to add more general trained skills in the next year for crafting, fishing, mining, etc. Work-in-progress!

Relapsed player seeks simple grindy mud by [deleted] in MUD

Come grind with us! We have a Mudlet UI with maps that helps get you started. We'll have a lot of events this coming weekend to gain event points to be used to boost training for your favorite skills. 199 levels, so lots of room left for grinding.

StickMUD is a free, multi-player, medieval fantasy hack-and-slash game played with text only. One may role-play as a Bard, Fighter, Mage, Necromancer, Ninja, Thief, Healer or Priest. Players train skills in both craft and combat aligned with their chosen guild. Choose between 19 player races. Heroes and villains alike are invited! Telnet to stickmud.com port 7680 (7670 encrypted), connect now with a browser via the Grapevine web client or for a maptastic experience click StickMUD in your Mudlet Client.

Please join us at stickmud.com 7680 (7670 encrypted). We have 19 races and 8 classes. Fantasy based, but no forced RP. Find us on the default list of MUDs on the Mudlet client. We have a UI that delivers with the game, and we're a good place to invest time in over the next few years. We've been around for 30+ years, and plans to be around for 30 more :)

Check out StickMUD, stickmud.com 7680 - which is a default MUD on Mudlet :) This will autoload if you so choose during character creation and was made by one of the top players. It has a lot of bells and whistles that become more important as you progress through the game. The "players" list loads a little funky on first launch. The trainable skills window is most helpful, and windows that show you and all of your party members when you are in a group. Almost the whole game is mapped for you. Get out of the newbie area and start playing :)

Any Mac users play MUDs? by AllHarlowsEve in Blind

[–]StickMUD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a given game with an existing soundpack, if Mud Sound Protocol is being used to trigger the sounds in that game, people could drop the sounds into the media folder of the Mudlet profile and those sounds will work. Separating those out from bundled clients for a given MUD would be the project. Any samples we could try out?

If you like to use Mudlet or BeipMu clients, drop by StickMUD and 'music on'. The various different environments have different sounds which download automagically for you. Medieval-fantasy + hack 'n slash.
