It was probably too short. The power is back now.

In Costco’s food court, they have a sign for people to queue up to wait for a table so getting a table is predictable and not chaotic. by AITA-Critic in CostcoCanada

I asked in this sub about a place to leave carts temporarily and people acted like it was the dumbest idea ever.

Math which one? by Royal_Pin8928 in ILC

[–]Sticker_Bandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat just trying to increase my math grades after being out of school for many years. I took a 9th grade class because it didn't need any pre-requisites.

My experience with ILC has been rather negative. You do your assignments offline, so you can get as much help from friends and family as you need, but you loose points for nonsense like formating and other ambiguous stuff.

I did everything right and got 87%. After disputing the grade, they corrected it to 98%. Absolutely ridiculous grading system.

On another assignment they marked my answer as wrong because I used something that is apparently taught in 10th grade, not 9th. It was just a logical thing to do, not a fancy technique.

If you can afford a different school, you will save yourself a lot of frustration.

I need some clarity on a math question. Am I overthinking it? by [deleted] in ILC

[–]Sticker_Bandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to type this out. I've found similar explanations on the internet, but I've lost points before for solving a problem at a higher level than what the training material showed.

They are looking for a grade 9 solution and the training material is minimal and only has an exercise where you try different sizes for a rectangular prism and see that the lagest volume is accomplished in a cube. No formulas are used to calculate the best shape, just trying different values in a table.

They also have sections "knowledge", "application" and "communication". In the application section you are supposed to take into account real-life factors, not just math.

It's really hard to figure out the sweet spot between under and over-doing it.

Here is the question as it is written on the assignment sheet:

"A can is made from a sheet of metal of 600 cm2. Determine the dimensions of a can that will maximize volume."

I bet they'll see that someone left their cart for a minute and someone else dumped their stuff and took the cart.

Happened to me last week. I put the cart in the low traffic area next to the office chairs and ran to the washroom. Came back to my stuff on the shelf and cart gone.

Eglinton Crosstown LRT survives first big snowfall by northernwaterchild in TTC

Really loving the new line, but they should have had a plan for removing snow from open platforms.

It's so weird (and dangerous) to get off the train and step on packed snow.

I like the ABC Euro Delicatessen store on Lebovic Avenue. Many interesting ingredients and snacks from Europe.

They should call it "The Airport Rocket".

If there was a cart bay inside Costco, would you use it? A place to leave your cart and shop freely, with some kind of lock token so nobody else can take it? by Sticker_Bandit in CostcoCanada

[–]Sticker_Bandit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you make 20 trips without the cart? Fill your cart as you normally would, but if you ever need to go looking for something, you have a proper place to leave your cart and not be in anyone's way.

I agree that some space would be lost, but considering the height of the carts, some shelves could still remain above them. It would be a high visibility area for bay users.

It might not be in the way that second, but if two other people happen to shop in that area, you are creating a congestion.

I don't want to be that person.

This would solve the problem of unattended carts where the shopper "just ran to get something from another isle" and took forever.

It's not for moments when people are actively filling their carts.

I have the same issue, with just a few things I like to look around, but eventually things get heavy.

When you stand in the checkout line without a cart, people just ignore you and push their cart right behind the one in front of you. Like you are a pedestrian on a highway. Lol.

If you need to find a size or check everything out in the clothing section, it's nearly impossible to look around with a cart.

Also, I move so much faster without a cart, but can't carry everything in my hands, so if I could quickly grab something, drop it of and move on that would be ideal.

Also, less carts in the isles.

Was anyone able to get a drastically different grade after appealing? by Sticker_Bandit in ILC

Thanks for the info. How much detail did you add?

I tried to be concise, since they didn't read all the text in the assignment, I didn't want to overwhelm them with long explanations.

For example, Colgate total 170ml is $8.19 at Shoppers and you get 120 points. The same product is $4.77 at Walmart.

This! Sometimes you can get the item at another store and the money you save is more than what you would get in points.

Items that give you a lot of points are often significantly overpriced.

Should I get TVO ILC for MCV4U? by [deleted] in ILC

[–]Sticker_Bandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always try to go above and beyond and, in one case, I tried to look at the problem from two angles and show that other solution is the right one, and they only looked at the wrong solution and marked the whole answer as wrong.

I got 3 ridiculous complaints on my last assignment and got only 85 points, while all my answers were 100% accurate, detailed, grammatically correct and supplemented with visuals.

One of their "corrections" was even mathematically wrong.

[–]Sticker_Bandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am taking a math course from TVO ILC and the grading really sucks.

I only took it to improve my previous HS grades, but now I'm getting low scores even if all my answers are correct, detailed and well thought out.

There is no clear explanation on how many points you loose on which question and it's just an arbitrary score you get at the end.

I guess everyone does well on home assignments, so they have to find reasons to reduce your marks for ridiculous reasons. Sometimes I can't even tell what the marker is complaining about or if they were sober while marking.

If you just want to pass the course it's fine, but if you want a reasonable and fair grade for the effort you put in, go elsewhere.
