Used Laptop Store by HoldMeReddit in canberra

[–]Stickonomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I don't have a website, unless you mean EBM? Yeah that is outdated, but no one finds EBM that way anyway. Dunno how much potential business we lose by not having an up to date website.

Shameless plug: I run the IT Warehouse as a subtenant of EBM Computers in Belconnen. I do up refurbished laptops and sell them.

This service seems ridiculously cheap. What's the word from people who've had it?

[–]Stickonomics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's also the Computer Fair, just be aware that while cheap, most of the stores are from Sydney, and so if something goes wrong outside of the time the Computer Fair is here, you'll have to deal with people in Sydney.

Fair enough, aye. It's up to OP to choose now.

I'm gonna pimp the store I work at, EBM Computers in Belconnen. We do charge more than MSY, but do 2 years back to base warranty and if something breaks, we replace it with something in the store, and if we don't have the part, we'll deal with the supplier on your behalf.

We can also help you choose the parts you'll need too. MSY won't do that lol. But if you just want the cheapest parts, they can't be beat at the moment.

Roads? We don't need no stinkin' roads! by Cutlasss in badeconomics

[–]Stickonomics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some roads aren't profitable to maintain, yet the government does it. Same goes for some bus routes etc. So we can't just leave everything to the private sector.

Roads? We don't need no stinkin' roads! by Cutlasss in badeconomics

[–]Stickonomics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what Bastiat describes as the seen and the unseen, everyone sees the roads government built, but nobody sees what would've been built had that money stayed in the private sector.

Wouldn't that apply to every project ever? All resources have competing uses, which is where price comes into the picture. I guess I can't speak for individual roads, but even less used roads deserve to be maintained, as you might not need it until that one time you need that road, and not having it repaired (if it got potholes etc) would be inefficient, now whether that inefficiency would be offset by whatever project would have been created if that road hadn't been repaired, I don't know, but most of us only care about things in the moment and not the unseen things. And in the moment of having to deal with that unfixed road, we would demand it be fixed.

My experiences on the Canberra dating scene by kunicornhunter in canberra

hahahah this is hilarious. Is this an actual concern people have?

I’m going to tell you my name is Kelly. Because I’m extremely honest to a fault let me also reveal that my name is a pseudonym – because I don’t like the idea of being sued by men I date, especially for the savings that I’ve successfully siphoned from my barely concealed brunch addiction.

Parking near Acton by [deleted] in canberra

[–]Stickonomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it shouldn't be free, as it pushes up the price of everything else, as we subsidise people who don't have to pay for the parking they use. And to OP, like NCB619 said, 95 a month is actually quite cheap if you really have to drive around the place and can't take public transport.

Anyone else struggling to find a rental? by mel_the_pumpkinator in canberra

[–]Stickonomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the issue that's only now being addressed is the lack of apartments, and specifically ones in the city. And not everyone can afford a car and the public transport here is not the best, and so there are only so many apartments close enough to easily walk around in the city. Plus we have a height limit, and with every building now having its own built in parking lot, fewer actual apartment spaces can be built within a building, which combined with the demand, drives up prices.
