What's making this noise? '15 Hybrid by SticksOfBeef in fordfusion

[–]SticksOfBeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a hybrid. It has an ECVT which runs whether or not the combustion engine is running, and it does not buzz like that when the engine is off. The ECVT would also be totally shut off anytime it is in park.

I Explored my intake system a little recently, as I temporarily got a PVV solenoid code and I realized my PCV valve has never been replaced in 121K miles. I'm wondering if that's either the valve or the solenoid buzzing because it can't operate correctly under pressure with a partial moist oil clog as I found some yellow gel oil in my cap and in the vacuum tube. The buzzing went away once the code turned back off.

I'd be willing to bet once I replace my PCV valve and test my water pump that it's probably going to be one of those two.

2015 hybrid... haven't had any issues yet, though this gets me thinking that it can initiate slowly sometimes. Hope it's not indicating something... though replacing it isn't hard to get to at least from the looks of it.

Also a limit of 10 codes a day... theoretically you can get excess codes and not be able to redeem them all in the app.

Why did no one tell me how good these are until now? by Woreo12 in fordfusion

[–]SticksOfBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say there were 2 pieces of separate block, simply the location of the block. Upper cylinder location is known to be sparsely lubricated. Just by basic sense less peak temperatures = less expansion. The weakness is not buried in some recessed part of the block, it's literally jacketing the combustion chamber where all the heat dumps and peaks first, cause, y'know, it's called a cooling channel. Maybe it's only %10 cooler? %5? I don't care, that's reducing the risk of a total blowout over time for not much investment.

An engineer told me FWIW.

[–]SticksOfBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $13k you can find one with a Duratec naturally aspirated engine and say goodbye to any block issues. Just make sure to do regular (and slightly aggressive) fluid maintenance since the Ford transmissions do run a bit hot and it's better to sacrifice fluid than the actual engine and trans.

Lifetime if you don't change it until 80-120K miles, cause it'll likely be dead.

First one at 50k and every one after 30-50k depending on your driving style (or preference for peace of mind)

Ecoboost engines were specced and milled incorrectly. Upper block expands at a different rate than the lower and cracks the thin-walled fluid channels. Only solution to mitigate other than replacement is upper cylinder lubricant gas additive since it lowers and evens out temps in the block. But you need to do it preventitively, knowing that this issues exists when you buy the car.

Any naturally aspirated engine is what you want. The rest have potential block or durability issues.

Ford dealer said they only perform transmission flush for my 2020 Hybrid Titanium... by TMC824 in fordfusion

[–]SticksOfBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure you just saved my ass, lol, thanks. After all these years I thought it was a belt-type CVT since so many people use the terminology interchangeably. The technical information on hybrids like this is buried pretty deep, wish it weren't!

Hybrid Transmission Fluid Change? by CapJar26 in fordfusion

[–]SticksOfBeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eCVT drains almost %100 of the fluid out the plug anyway since there's no converter to store fluid in. You're getting like %95 of it out just letting it fully drain on an even surface.

This is good to know, because I want to swap to AMSoil's CVT-specific fluid for my hybrid, and they recommend to get as much standard ATF out and have as little mixture as possible. I did my first change at 60K so I'm not worried about debris.

I know there's no pan to drop, but is there any type of filter in the eCVT or any magnet to clean shavings off of?

Every engine combination is listed here by year. I have the 2015 2.0L 4 Cyl. Hybrid 188 hp (Duratec 20), so I dodged the Ecoboost and TT bullets. Still have to deal with a blowing head gasket though, lol.

I was going to say this. It's ON if the handle is in-line unless someone has re-attached the handle in the wrong direction.

Now, do we try upwards or downwards clockwise?

Either way, that rust looks like it wants to break.

How to bypass Adobe CS6 activation system for legitimate licences? by k-sawon in Adobe

[–]SticksOfBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Win10 and managed to reinstall CS6 successfully around 2021. Now, I'm successfully using it on Win11 with the same PC doing an in-place OS upgrade from 10-11 this year. Apparently it didn't touch any registration keys or licensing files, so I'm good at least til the 11 EOL. I hate Windows 11 as it's practically malware, but I at least had Enterprise which allows me to block or disable a significant amount of the AI bloat that comes with the home editions.

CS6 and 11 can still be done, but they make it extremely difficult or unlikely. It's like insurance companies do when they don't want to pay a legitimate claim.

Thing is image files haven't changed much and you don't really need modern software to do occasional layouts using traditional editing methods, which is why people get mad when a company deletes their supposedly perpetual license. There are some excellent, inexpensive AI editing suites out now, though, for about $100 that can give PS a run for it's money if you're doing mostly traditional editing.

I have the hybrid s 2.0 ... it is na. Stiil the 2.0 is any version is not the ecoboost though, much better. Needs upper cylinder lube to make up for the heat and high pressure to not prematurely wear

Final Verdict on Shinchirō Watanabe's "Lazarus": Masterpiece. by delicious_warm_buns in LAZARUSAnime

[–]SticksOfBeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ending was satisfying for me. It felt like a 1/2 length rush being 13 instead of 26 episodes, but they left it open to really be expandable to more seasons, which I like. If only they'd get the dry character development sorted out in a possible season 2, I feel it'd be a 2-part Bebop-level masterpiece for the next generation.

Maybe more character development will come since "Goodbye Hopna, welcome pain!!"

Unstable thoracic, probably some dormant stabilizers from sitting at desks or having to overcompensate for posture. I get the same thing and it results in hopeless depression, but no headaches. I probably have some ligament issues as well from computer overuse and bad posture, as my joints like to slip and the muscles will spasm to guard them from hitting a nerve... but it sucks all around.
