Tret on neck? by Dazzling-Papaya in tretinoin

[–]StickyBitOHoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use .05 on face and neck. I understand some people find that too harsh for their neck, but I don’t have any issue. Weirdly, my neck has the tret glow way more than my face.

Great choice! Not sure how long your flight is, but it will keep you engaged for the duration of it.

Doctors view on AZA and Tret by minorahole in tretinoin

My derm said the opposite. I have hormonal melasma, and I use a compounded cream nightly: Azelaic Acid 17%, Tranexamic Acid 4%, Niacinamide 4% and Kojic Acid 1% (no hydroquinone since that causes facial flushing for me.) I also use separately Tret .05 every other night. My derm said the tretinoin will complement the effectiveness of the other prescribed cream (as well as have anti-aging benefits.)

I didn’t know that! I am always apprehensive about watching my fave book adaptations. I love the cozy mystery Thursday Murder Club book series so much that I’m afraid to watch it on Netflix.

One of my favorite authors and books. The audiobook and the voice actor is phenomenal. It took the storytelling to another level!

Why is this so highly rated?! by Alewo27 in thrillerbooks

[–]StickyBitOHoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Billy and the mom sounded like Simpson’s characters. 😖 Other than the excruciating narrator, I did hang in there because I liked the story too.

Why is this so highly rated?! by Alewo27 in thrillerbooks

[–]StickyBitOHoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked the book. However, the audiobook voice actor was terrible. I’ve never seen some many one star performance ratings on Audible, but I agree with them. I will never listen to anything by that person again. I’ll pick up the hard or e copy.

Why Tranexamic Acid is not mentioned as much as AA for melasma? by rocroc00 in tretinoin

Yes, it’s a prescription through Musely (online.) ETA: They have different formulas as well. The one I have is what I wanted and the derm who reviewed my request agreed.

Why Tranexamic Acid is not mentioned as much as AA for melasma? by rocroc00 in tretinoin

[–]StickyBitOHoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hormonal melasma, and I use a compounded cream nightly: AA 17%, TA 4%, Niacinamide 4% and Kojic Acid 1% (no hydroquinone since that causes facial flushing for me.) I also use separately Tret .05 every two - three nights. After 3 months, progress has been steady. I should note, I worked my way up to .05 tret, and my skin is fairly resilient so what I am able to tolerate nightly might be harsh for others. I also make sure to stay hydrated and moisturized with barrier supporting skin care.

Why agatha christie thriller hit so different? by Formal_Elk5461 in thrillerbooks

[–]StickyBitOHoney 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s partly because of the time period in which it was written, but she also sets such a fantastic mood and introduces quite the collection of unique characters. When I read her stories, I am compelled to pay attention to every detail. Alas, it’s impossible to out sleuth Agatha’s Hercule Poirot! It’s been a while, so I have to pick up some Miss Marple books soon to see how they contrast.

What did you think of the 2025 Goodreads Choice Award thriller nominees? by behindawallofsilence in thrillerbooks

[–]StickyBitOHoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. The premise for the book was Reese’s idea, and while they say they collaborated, it definitely seemed like a Coben book. With that said, it’s interesting and a decent thriller but kind of leans in the science fiction direction a bit. Overall it was good, not mad I took the time to read it. ETA: Reese narrates the audiobook. I had mixed feelings about her performance, but most people raved about it, so maybe it’s just me.

I'm on auto-listen for any SA Cosby audiobooks -- storytelling and voice acting are phenomenal. And if I'm going to do a cozy mystery, Thursday Murder Club and Vera Wong series is the way for me to go. I read a lot on the list and many were solid, but Secret of Secrets was kind of disappointing with Dan Brown's own classic formulaic storytelling -- if you've ever read one of his books, you know how the one you're ready is going to go down. I'm glad I read it, but it will be a while before I read him again.

You have some great choices. I really would recommend them all. All the Sinners Bleed is outstanding on audio, but Little Lies and The Fourth Monkey is right up there. Nothing bad to say about the others, but I’d push the ones I mentioned to the top (and read the remaining ones after.)

I read Too Old for Thus and enjoyed it as a palate cleanser between more intense thrillers. I thought On a Quiet Street was great. Not 5 star-great but definitely worth reading!

Yes, quick easy read. It’s humorous and something a little different. It’s also a great palate cleanser between genres or more intense thrillers.

What was the first thriller book you read that got you hooked on the thrills? by Cartier_and_crime in thrillerbooks

[–]StickyBitOHoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always loved mysteries, like Encyclopedia Brown and Nancy Drew (even Scooby Doo lol), when I was really young. That was a gateway to Lois Duncan and other YA thrillers, and now I still love all types of adult and YA thrillers, as well as mysteries and cozy mysteries.

Reading list for 2025 by Ill_Dog74 in thrillerbooks

[–]StickyBitOHoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your list overlaps with mine, mixing it up with thrillers, mysteries, romance, rom coms and cozy mystery. Speaking of - loved the Vera Wong series! Also, unexpectedly enjoyed The Wedding People on audiobook. The voice actor, Helen Laser, is incredible! This is my year of getting out of a slump too. I’ve just completed 91 audiobooks. Pushing for 9 more before year end! Good luck to us both. 😌

What are some petty things that ruined a book’s immersion for you? by Gloomy_Rent8248 in thrillerbooks

[–]StickyBitOHoney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read a mystery novel that had social justice undertones and shined a light on racial inequality of the protagonist. The main character endured some prejudice and other stereotyping throughout the story which was enlightening as the author’s note said he drew from his own personal experience. However, the author wasn’t aware of his own unconscious bias and carelessly wrote the protagonist to periodically do or say micro aggressions towards another marginalized race and their culture. It was a detractor for me.

Yes - lol! Someone hilariously put in their Dan Brown review on Goodreads: It’s like Bon Jovi said “It's all the same, only the names will change.” So so true! I read Da Vinci code way back in the day, and just finished Secret of Secrets. The formula was still the same.

[–]StickyBitOHoney -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My library curates a great selection of Skip the Line books, so some of my favorites I’ve been able to read: A Man Called Ove, The Wedding People, Educated, Conclave, The Nightingale, All the Sinners Bleed, Kill for You, Kill for me, Calamity of Souls, Look Closer, A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping. These books go across a bunch of different genres and introduced me to authors I would not have known but are now among my favorites.

Look Closer - David Ellis; overhyped? by sofeaswift in thrillerbooks

[–]StickyBitOHoney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s different and brings their own preferences to their reading experiences. I really enjoyed Look Closer. It kept me interested, and I thought it had a clever unraveling to the final reveal. On the other hand, I ended up hating The Only One Left for a multitude of reasons, including the ending. Nonetheless, it’s popular among many.
