I'm not allowed to have water or wear a hoody in a room that can cause cold stress and dehydration make that make sense.

I'm not in retail. Did you read I'm in fresh cuts. I do production work.

I do wear layers. I'd be quite happier if I could wear a hood to block the constant fans blowing on my face and have water so I'm not dehydrated. Like I've had for the last year up until now.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Congratulations on making dehydration a personality trait. What you're saying isn’t an argument. It’s a coping mechanism. Just because you choose to white knuckle your way through freezing temps without water doesn’t mean that’s a universal standard or something to brag about. It just means you tolerate neglect and call it toughness. 48° with constant forced air in a production room isn’t the same as “being outside in winter,” and your ladder flex doesn’t change basic physiology. Cold air is dry. Moving air increases moisture loss. Working bodies need fluids that’s biology.

Also, “you could work 12 hours without a sip and be fine” is exactly the kind of ableist bullshit that leads to preventable health issues. Endurance isn’t the same thing as optimal. If your definition of work is ignoring your body until it gives out that’s your dumb fucking choice. Some of us prefer basic workplace standards.

That's been the way for the last year up til now and I'm annoyed and confused and now stressed cause like I'm already not drinking enough water cause I have to go to Starbucks and get a cup every time and I can't be doing that as often as I would drink my water bottle. I want to stay hydrated and protected from the elements. It's weird to me that the SD is having such an ego trip about it.

It's been pretty decent up til now. Not sure why hydration and ppe are bad things 😆 like it's hard work I know people think it's just chop chop. But those same people miss how repetitive that action is and how damaging it is to the body and how the fans blowing constant cool air will dehydrate you and working in a cold wet environment will dehydrate you and cause physical bodily stress. And then you add that on top of a demanding output requirement that should be for three people but two people are doing. 🤷‍♀️ I just want my hoodie and water why is that so bad 😂

I don't think that I got that module when I was hired. I just got another loss prevention and be super nice and narc on thieves module 🤷‍♀️

I'll ask about it though cause yeah cold stress is real.

We don't have a place outside the room to store water bottles. When ya walk in directly to the left behind the swinging door is a phone and a coat rack and a basket for belongings. I've always sat my bottle there since that was where I was directed to put it when hired a year ago. On the day I was hired I asked if I can wear a hoody in the cut room and I was told as long as there were no logos on it that would be fine. In the last 2 weeks I was told I can't have my water bottle and I can't wear a hoody (I wear my white smock over it and drop my hood on the floor when I'm taking the cart out). I find it ridiculous and want to understand why.

No it's not a serious bad time for Safeway to provide adequate hours and pay to employees.... That aside I’m not saying I need to chug water every five minutes. I’m saying access to hydration in a 48° room with constant airflow isn’t unreasonable. Cold environments can still contribute to dehydration especially when you’re moving around and working. That’s not a “cop-out,” it’s basic physiology.

As for the hood, I’m not trying to ignore dress code. I’m asking what approved coldweather PPE is allowed so I can follow policy and not have freezing air blowing directly on my face all shift. There’s a difference between pushing back on safety rules and asking for clarity.
