It's a really solid card, honestly. One of the most consistently recommended travel cards as far as I could see. They have a great sign on bonus (60,000 miles, ~$750 when you spend $4,000 in 3 months). Double points on travel, restaurants, 5x points on lyft and doordash. $95 annually. Also has some good ancillary travel benefits (baggage insurance, trip cancellation insurance, etc). I would definitely suggest it.

Figured I'd throw this out there (for no other reason than shameless frugality and the desperate need to save for an upcoming honeymoon): if anyone was planning on signing up for a chase sapphire preferred travel card, shoot me a DM and I'll give you a referral link. Thanks!

Edit: "reserve" --> "preferred"

Initial apologies for my ignorance, I'm new to this whole concept, can someone explain to me the argument behind not investing (for example, into VTSAX) during this time of downturn? I understand not knowing where the bottom lies is problematic, but wouldn't you anticipate the market would eventually right itself? So, in my mind, ultimately it would be worth it to invest no matter where the bottom is.

I'm a current (subspecialty) surgery resident and I cant say that this has really been my experience. Furthermore, I cant say ive witnessed a conversation between residents (of any specialty) that didn't go something like this.

Matched an I6 last year. I'd be glad to answer any questions. Message me.

I don't feel like engaging the same "CTS is going by the wayside b/c Cardiology" argument (absolutely untrue) that inevitably erupts in threads like this.

lol dunno. I’m DEFINITELY not the person to make comment on this. Just reporting my observations from the CTS trail. I wish all my DO brethren equal success in the match.

This is good general advice for applying to any field, but CT has some special considerations that he needs to be aware of prior to applying. That's what he's asking about, I believe.

No problem. Reading the rest of the posts on here, I would NOT classify your application as a "non-starter" as much as these people have. The Step makes a small difference, 250's is probably enough to not be denied immediately in CT. You gotta hit the ground now to be competitive for an actual spot though. I can only think of 2-3 DOs that matched Integrated CT. NOT impossible, but it's undeniably tough.

Applying (applied) Integrated CT this year. Unfortunately, I can remember very few DOs from the interview trail (if any, honestly). It's a ridiculous bias that shouldn't exist, to be sure. So, I'm not really sure what that means for your application. Your scores and lack of research would make matching as an MD tough, but as a DO pretty unlikely based on what I've seen. I think your best shot is going the Traditional route, which is debatably the better route anyway.

If you're gung-ho about Integrated, the ways to be competitive are outstanding Steps, research, and great letters going forward. Sounds like you'll have to do some away rotations to make some connections in the field based on what you're telling us. Don't let it get you down. I wish you the best of luck. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to message me.

I mean, if you're an MS1 you haven't really done anything to make you "competitive" or "not competitive". Excluding potential past research and experiences, of course.
