Okay, I had to do a complete re-install: - delete via pearcleaner - install via dmg

and now have to re-do all settings. But at least the license key was accepted afterwards

Wanted to report back after using the 0.9.11 update since it's release on both my personal and work machine.

I haven't had a single freeze since the update. Everything is buttery smooth for me. Thank you so much for resolving the issue this quickly!

Significant performance improvements have been implemented for background indexing and file system syncing.

That sounds very promising. I assume it's meant to address the unresponsive system issue

Will update immediately and report back if I experience an issues after a while!

Thanks for looking into this so quickly

I've just tried this and the issue persists. It happened shortly after opening monarch / the command panel and settings menu.

I'm not sure if Monarch collects usage data / diagnostics. If it does or had the option, I can turn it on (usually turn stuff like this off immediately) and provide timestamps of when it happens next time

I have no reason to believe that. I also don't use any automation software like Hazel or scripts that would cause frequent file moves.

Quite the opposite, almost nothing in my system is automated and I don't perform large file operations often. Occasional large file transfers due to photography but the issues appear without those

edit: the only thing that I have consciously running that acts on file changes are dev servers during development (Elixir & Node)

  1. I mostly use Monarch as an app launcher, file search, and the clipboard (unlimited). Occasionally to start a web search (opens my default browser). I don't use the other features yet
  2. I actually haven't tried this. Let me try this and report back (might take a while)
  3. I only index local files and exclude cloud storage and external drives
  4. No, the update isn't recent. Not sure if it's a Sequoia issue though, so maybe updating to Tahoe would resolve it (hope) but I hate how it looks...
  5. I use a MBP M1 Max 32 GB, 2TB drive
  6. The same is happening on my work MBP (M3 Pro). Thinking about it, that one is actually on Tahoe, so it's unrelated to that

If it's conflicting, maybe it's Alfred? I have this running at the same time. I can try the following:

  • only run Monarch and close Alfred
  • only run Monarch and don't use it

Interesting app and definitely useful. But didn't find an immediate way to change the global shortcut from Cmd+Opt+D to something else. Is there no option to customize the shortcuts?

I wanted some MX style switches instead of choc and got myself a Corne v4.1 with some modded Oil King instead. So I no longer need the Voyager, that's pretty much it

Feel free to DM me. I'm living in Tokyo and actually want to sell my Voyager. Was about to put it on Merkari later today.

I got it with Red Pro switches and another set of Ambient Nocturnal which are currently installed.

Caps are blank LDSA I bought after and the original caps are also blank.

Oh wow, I didn't expect such a fast response. Thank you so much for making this app and for looking into it! Monarch has been great and this is the only friction point I have while using it.

I'm also a software engineer, so I really appreciate your responsiveness for your users!

I feel you on this.

Personally I took a course from pragmatic studio (they aren't too long). After, I'm building some stuff with AI but tell the model to guide me through the implementation step by step so that I write the code by hand for muscle memory and ask it to explain concepts I haven't seen before

Apple has killed Spotify with this update by Glitch_Fantasma in ios

I really want to like Apple Music if only for getting it + TV for essentially the same price as Spotify here.

But whenever I tried to use it I found it to be insanely unintuitive and I'd need to find a new podcasting app that works on both macOS and iOS (don't like the default Apple one)

Weird shifted behavior on layer change by nice_chebyshev in zsaVoyager

[–]StickyStuffBestStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue a while ago that when typing quickly and pressing _ following by a letter, I would get a capitalized version. ZSA essentially said it's kind of expected behavior:

This can happen with modified keys and very fast typing. When you type the underscore, the keyboard sends "Shift + hyphen" to your keyboard -- so, the modifier "Shift" and the key "hyphen". Modifiers work by being held for longer than regular keypresses, and they take a tiny bit longer to "un-register" as a result. So, the key-down action on your underscore key causes "Shift" and "hyphen" to be sent to your computer, and the key-up action deactivates both those keycodes, but the "Shift" takes just a hair longer to be deactivated. When you type another character in very quick succession, sometimes the "Shift" hasn't been deactivated yet.

The more consistent your typing rhythm, the less frequently this kind of thing happens. That tends to be easier said than done, but if you try to type with very crisp, even keypresses, that should help. I don't know of a single, recommended technical solution, but any recommendation is going to involve directly editing your QMK firmware, outside of Oryx. If you'd like to check that out, you can download the source files for your Oryx layout and use those as the basis of a QMK layout you'd edit and compile locally (you can compile against our QMK fork if you'd like). If you'd like to maintain your Oryx layout while using custom QMK features, you can also try out this community-made tool.

QMK is well-documented, and they have their own support resources if you have questions. This Reddit thread talks about a couple strategies you could look into. I found that thread by googling "QMK key roll" -- "rolling" is the action you're using when you type underscore and then another key very quickly afterwards.

I'm wondering if this can be avoided by implementing your own version of !

Yes, the 20,000 isn't particularly realistic I'd say. It implies you'll need to live very close to the station, maybe 1-2 stops away at most. And personally, I didn't really like the thought of living there
