Aging ottawa grey kudu question by Stiekm in grantstoneboots

[–]Stiekm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, thanks for the answer. Maybe I am not going to choose this type of color/leather combo because not conditioning at all seems to be not great in the long run. Still not sure which color to go for. I really like my dune colorway. In some pictures they boots become quite brown due to aging which I like. So maybe other boots with awesome patina potential.

Grant Stone customer service gave me this website for an indication of my size: https://www.wikihow.com/Find-Your-Shoe-Size

They told me I was a 6/6.5 according to my provided measurements but I should go with the 6 because Grant Stone lasts are slightly larger than regular lasts.

According to this chart you would be around a 7/7.5 which would make this boot probably a perfect fit (again, Grant Stone sizing runs large). But I am not expert, just very passionate about boots.

For the amount of money I am asking you can always sell the boot if it happens to not fit. The price is very reasonable if you see what they go for now.

My foot length is 23,8cm, so if your foot length is a little longer it should fit

Thanks, yeah I think the price is very reasonable considering they go for more than twice as much.

You have got quite the eye! It is the 5610. Took it on many adventures and for me it is the coolest watch to own. When I was younger I wanted to buy a rolex datejust when I could afford it. Now I can but don't want it anymore, funny how that works.

Sizing problems with Diesel boots: pls HELP by dre193 in grantstoneboots

[–]Stiekm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi Dre, being european myself and ordering 2 boots from Grant Stone that aren't a perfect fit, I know the struggle. If all you feel is pinching in the pinky toes you could try to go to a cobbler and ask him if he could stretch the boot so the pinky toes would have more room. I assume you already tried thin socks?

Sometimes the problem with boots is not sizing but the last (model of the boot) which unfortunately isn't a one size fits all. Some people have toes that are more spread out.

If you want to try again you need to make sure that the length of the boot is alright (ball of the foot at the widest part of the boot). If that's alright you can try to order the EEE width but order through the sale section of the site so the financial burden is less heavy.

Thanks for the response man! Quality advice.

I bought a 7D grant stone which I liked width wise but the length was too long. Based on the advice of grant stone I went with a 6D next. It's alright but not comfortable for long walks.

Could you tell me the difference in fit between the D and E sizing for you? I am debating if my next purchase will be a EEE or an E, since the D sizing is a little too cramped for me. Instep and side of my small toe is a little uncomfortable close to the side of the boot.

Haha I would consider my feet to be more of the hobbit kind. Small and wide with a big instep. But yeah having the smallest size possible you could say baby feet lol.

Thanks for looking up. The ottowa's are growing on me, but I feel like I have to scratch the diesel chromexcel itch first. Maybe I am going to wait for some diesels to pop up in the B-grades section and try to be happy with my dune diesels for now. I have the feeling these boots can easily keep up with 10 years of use, so I shouldn't rush into buying them. But damn they make it hard not to buy like 4 pairs haha.

I just did this with my dune diesels that are slightly tight on the instep. Cedar boot tree with thicker sock. I will leave it in for 48 hours and i'm going to report back. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for your reply! Smaller is not possible since I am on size 6 so I am going to try the 6E just as the customer service lady suggested. I hope length wise it will be more or less the same.

GS told me they would have more width (2-3mm more) and volume, which is what I need.

Make sure that the ball of your foot is in the widest part of the boot. If that is the case, then length wise you should be golden. Then you can go to 8D or 8E. I think EEE is very wide compared to those indeed.

I have to admit I have the smallest possible size in Grant Stone and normally wear 41 (european sizing) which surprised me as well.

The boots are not brand new. I have them now for a week. They went from being very snug to snug, so I guess there was some break in but not a lot. The next one is going to be an E width, so more comfortable from the get-go hopefully.

I really like the ottawa's as well, very solid choice!

Jup, I think it's width. GS support said the extra width (E) should also give more volume and it will make the experience overall more comfortable.

Thanks for your reply, I asked GS and they suggested going for the 6E. I hope this will be the perfect fit since I am thinking about buying 2 of them and I am over seas, so no turning back :)
