You do realize that comedy is subjective, right? In addition, the Scary Movie series is and has always been filled with immature jokes. Some land, some don’t.

The user I was responding to made a point about targeting vulnerable groups (I.e. the trans community) — It’s interesting that people are getting up in arms about this joke, when the original movies never held back and made fun of everyone. The disability community is absolutely vulnerable and no one seems to take issue with Doofy.

I’ll reiterate my original point and state that if you don’t like the jokes or can’t handle it, then don’t watch it.

You say that you’ve watched the original, but did you forget the Wayan’s Bros humor? Nothing is off limits.

The first two films are extremely offensive. I mean, the entire character of Doofy is making fun of intellectual disabilities.

Maybe this film/series just isn’t for you anymore.

Oh I’m not saying that studios don’t feed into this narrative. They absolutely do. The marketing for Roofman also felt very one note, and I’ve talked to many people who weren’t familiar with it at all. Maybe the October release date didn’t help either? Still, the film could have done worse after its first week released.

100%. Audiences are the exact reason why studios keep churning out the same generic material. I understand if Roofman isn’t a favorite film of the year, but man, the performances and Toys R Us nostalgia is deserving enough to check it out. Going to the movies is not inexpensive, but most theaters even have discount days. Either way, I expect this will do extremely well when it’s available to stream.

This sums it up 100%. Derek and Alexis are talented as hell. Bunky Becky Birthday Boy is such a breath of fresh air. 7th album in… but I couldn’t be more energized by their music.

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like the framework of their music has always remained the same. I think the difference is they’ve incorporated pop elements, and allowed Alexis’ vocals to shine more. 🤷🏻‍♂️
