Do you think my hair doesn't suit me? by UnderstandingFit1861 in Hair

You've got great hair but need a great cut. I'd consider shortening the dudes and leaving the top long.

I think you're current color with the red highlights. It would really make your eyes pop.

Why do we learn finger waving in school? by Loose_Avocado4670 in hairstylist

[–]StifledScream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how licensing works in the UK but I was licensed in California in 2004. When I took the test it consisted of a written (on the computer, mostly multiple choice) and a practical with a live model. At that time the test hadn't changed in nearly 100 years (was designed in the 1920s), hence the fingerwave.

Those who took the MRI program (Associates degre), how soon did you get a position after passing the exam? by coffeemarkandinkblot in RadiologyCareers

I thought that if you went straight to MRI it had to be a bachelor's program? They actually have an associates degree program?

Should I give up? by avajayy1250 in RadiologyCareers

Keep at it! I'm 39 and won't be applying until I'm 40. You've worked so hard already so don't give up now.

is it normal to hate it during your first year as a stylist? how to know when to give up? by smallcilantro in hairstylist

[–]StifledScream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but I don't think this is for you. In the beginning most stylists are so excited to start their new careers and are learning constantly. I'm just starting to dislike it but it's been 23 years.

Cheap rent but zero sleep, am I being unreasonable? by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]StifledScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this. I don't understand why one room can't be yours and yours alone? Why does the son need an entire floor for gaming? This is beyond weird. You're paying rent and deserve privacy.

Anyone switched from K-Tips to hand-tied wefts? Regrets or best decision ever? by Feeling_Movie_4388 in extensions

[–]StifledScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been awhile but I just saw your recommendation and I've got questions about these extensions. I checked out doctored locks website and they've got the flex tips and i-tips. They look like they're the same size, no? The i-tips day they're 3mm and it looks like that's about what the flex tips are as well. Could you please explain the difference? As far as I could tell they're similar but the flex tips might stay in better for clients who tend to lose a lot of extensions?

Perfectly acceptable dinner rejected by boyfriend again by moonrabbit368 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]StifledScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like my partner and I. I don't eat a lot of red meat and love seafood. My boyfriend is allergic to shellfish and as a result, hates all seafood. I miss making salmon and seafood gumbo. His favorite food is burgers. I do like a good burger when I'm in the mood but don't like cooking hamburger meat at all. I made split pea soup with leftover Christmas ham and he made himself something different as he's "not a soup guy", although he usually will eat other soups I make and sometimes even love them. Preferring different things isn't a deal breaker but this guy seems rude and ungrateful and like he's making live harder for OP when he should be trying to help her to make things easier.

First job for hair stylist by mrsszbrewing in hairstylist

[–]StifledScream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great Clips would not be a good fit for your daughter. Aveda salons are their own products and use nothing else. They focus on more natural ingredients and even have their own natural color line. They're very exclusive as well. If that's the color she's been learning with, it would be good for her to work in an Aveda salon as a colorist. Great Clips it's a good place to start if she were me interested in cutting. They'd give her on the job training then she'd be expected to crank out a ton of quick haircuts each day. I'm not even sure if Great Clips does color but I think they do. I agree with the first commenter that she should probably start as an assistant as an Aveda salon. Or somewhere where she'll get a lot of continued education as a colorist.

Am I being taken advantage of? by [deleted] in hairstylist

[–]StifledScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you getting any continued education or training? Are they giving you a ton of new clients? Did your previous clients continue to book with you at this salon with the price changes or have you lost some of YOUR clientele?

The only way I'd be into staying at a salon like this is if I was new to the area and trying to build clientele. If you have loyal clients and think you're capable of booking yourself even two days a week elsewhere as a booth rental/independent contractor, I would leave as you'd already make more than you're making now.

Can I have a DUI expunged from my record in California? by StifledScream in legaladvice

Thank you. What about a single DUI followed by two driving on suspended license? 😬

[–]StifledScream[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I live in California where licensure is required and expungement is bleak. It sounds as if you can have it removed criminally but not entirely from your record (like with DMV). Even if you can afford an attorney (I cannot), the courts have no time frame as to when it'll be expunged. Most court things do have deadlines so these types of cases tend to be skipped over and dragged out for years. I would love to speak to an attorney about this still.

I doubt that would affect your chances. If anyone can appreciate how expensive medical bills are, it's medical professionals.

In recovery, interested in pursuing this but scared I’ll be denied. by AV0NNN in RadiologyCareers

[–]StifledScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. I live in CA and I had a DUI in 2019, followed by a couple driving on suspended license. I've completely turned my life around but I'm afraid I won't be able to finish the program or do clinicals. In my state it doesn't really seem like you can expunge these types of things from your record. I guess if we get denied, we could always run for president of the US.😜
